    Tulip Eel?

I had a swamp eel once... He/she wasn't predatory, but was rather aggresive. It bit me once on the arm; thanks to it I had a V shaped wound, as their small teeth are arranged that way.. But I must say, it had a wonderful personality; it let me hand feed it, and even let me hold it, until the day...

    My Blue "lobster"

I was once 'bitten' by my male Australian Red Claw, it hurt, but not as painful as I expected it to be. Buuuuttt.... I had a friend whose finger bled as a result of a red claw 'bite'. :P :P

    Crayfish Fry

Some egg pics... 5 days to hatch 2 days to hatch The thing about buying australian red claws from LFSes around here is that it most probably have come from a local river. There are people who catch and then sell to LFSes, a practice of which is bad as it'll deplete the crayfish population...

    Tankmates For Asian Arowana

I'll have to agree with CFC on this. In my somewhat limited experience, I've seen people keep arowanas at 5 x 2 x 2 feet tanks, and was even told that it's adequate. But there are also 6 feet tanks as well as longer ones. I would also like to say that although some of them are in 5 feet tanks...

    My Diy Filter

It's nice :D Umm.. stupid quetion tho.. How did you cut the holes in your plastic containers? Did you drill it? I've always wanted to diy filters but sadly I don't have a drill.. Is there a way to cut perfect holes without using a drill? :P

    Tankmates For Asian Arowana

Hi.. Just thought I'd share the going rates for some of the arowanas that I've seen around LFSes. I haven't seen a green aro before, but 3 inch yellow tails are selling for around RM 120 (£18?) and 1 n half back for around rm 300-400. Hi backs are selling for rm 900 for 4-5 inch fishes.. and...

    Crayfish Fry

Thanks all... I find crayfish to have unique personalities, and I noticed with Australian red claw males is that they are rather aggresive, compared to females. I had one who would literally chase after my fingers(during cleaning) even though I purposely stayed out of its way . But I...

    Crayfish Fry Pictures

Thanks all :D :D :D Umm... considering that the mother was caught in a local stream/river, I might release them back to it? But then, australian red claws aren't native to our ecosystem... I might also sell them to a LFS, or even give them away to friends.. Yeah, it's algae >.<...

    Crayfish Fry Pictures

My female australian red claw recently 'gave birth' to around 50ish little cute crayfishes. Female red claws carry fertilised eggs at their abdomen for around a month till they hatch. Even when hatched, the babies do not venture out that early. :P Here are the pictures, from near hatching egg...

    A Little Help Pls....

If I'm not mistaken, a 6x2x2 feet tank is the minimum for an asian arowana, so it should be okay with your tank. The same goes with giant gouramis.. (unsure too :P). But unless you live in the US, an asian arowana would be nice. They don't get as big as the south americans...

    So, An Asian Arowana With...

If you're getting an RTG, my suggestion for a tankmate would be Siamese Tigerfish, or Indo Tigerfish, which is cheaper. I do not know how much they are selling in the UK though, but they seem to compliment arowanas IMO. They get bigger than bichirs and are middle/bottom dwellers. So I guess...

    Cobalt Blue Crayfish

Hello, How long have you had her? I do not know about cobalt blues, but I do have Australian Red Claws, and I do know that they mate before the female lay her eggs. So... if the anatomy is the same, and that you've only just recently got her, my guess is that the eggs are fertile; she got...

    Can We Split The Forum

A subsection of Journals would be great. I find reading journals to be more entertaining and educational at the same time. It's also a great source of inspiration. With journals in the main planted forum, sometimes I miss some of them, as the traffic is rather high. A subsection would help...

I'v Had Enough Of My "community Fish"

According to your tank's specs, I believe you have a 37 US gal tank, which meets the minimum 30 gal required for a senegal bichir. As for the ram, I guess as long as it's bigger than the bichir's mouth, it'll be fine. Same goes for the BN plec, but there are some issues of plecos sucking on a...

    Post Your Small Tanks Here

Thanks... I recently acquired two 4 feet tanks (250 litres each), and have since transfered all my stuff, which include the bogwood and plants in that tank into those 2 new tanks. The tank is now under my gf's care; and she has yet to decorate it. :P

Post A Pic Of Your Fish And Rate Fish Above You

thanks! :D He's still a juvie, about only 3-4 inch from head to tail. The first week I got him was a nervous week for me as he got infected with fungus, quite common among young pnts but can be fatal. So I researched, quarantined, and treated the guy. He's much better now, to my much relief...

    Oddball Pics X)

hello.. My 5 inch ornate bichir :D another shot It currently lives in a 254 litre/ 67 gal tank, along with 2 angel fish, one mistus, one swamp eel and 2 clown loaches. The swamp eel was caught in a local river. It's actually not an aquarium fish; more like of a consumption fish. But then...

    A Few Quick Questions...

Hi, I'm going to try to answer as best as I can. :D How thick is your layer of sand? I understand that anearobic(spelling >.<) gases only develop in deep sand beds. Say, more than an inch? I am not sure about this though. As for the driftwood, I've read in this forum that some people, even...

    Do I Need An Airstone?

I am no expert, but if you're going to go for heavy planting and also inject co2, then do not use an airstone as the agitation will cause a lot of co2 to be 'released' back to the air. I suggest you check out the planted section and read the pinned articles before deciding on what and how much...
