well i`v made the decision,i`ll give the fish away,then clean every thing,and then if i do sell i`ll def sell everything separately,thanks for the advice

hmm, i`m going to have to have a good think about this,a friend suggested i give the fish away to a good home,then simply empty tank and wash gravel,filter etc and store it somewhere safe,as he said in 12 months time my health may have improved and i may want to start it up again,thanksfor replying

well i think i seriously have to consider selling my rio 240 +stand,its in ex condition,t5 lights,tetratec 1200,complete with lots of wood ,plants etc and several rainbow fish,loads of extras to go with it including 3 large pieces of mopani one of which is prob a bit big for a 4ft tank,and...

thanks,i`v never thought about changing layout of media,always just done what it says in manual.

actually there is nothing in the tetratec manual telling you to use grease/vaseline,prob why i have never used it(my excuse anyway)i havent had to pay for the spare part for the filter,there`s a 3 year guarantee on all tetra`s,i`v got one year left,but still looking out for a spare filter.

thanks, there about the sort of price range i`m looking for,need to buy another filter just to keep as a spare in case tetratec goes wrong again

there`s another filter on ebay called hailea,its also very cheap,cant find any reviews on it though

thanks om47,thats the question i was trying to ask,what would you reccommend putting in place of the carbon,set up of filter is as follows, bottom tray ceramic ring filters and biological filter foam next tray bb bio filter balls next tray biologicalfilter foam x2 top tray biological filter...

ok,but would i leave the rest of the media in the arranged order and use extra ceramics or tubes in the top container with the polishing pad or do i need to change them round?

in the tetratec ex1200 there`s a space in the top tray for carbon,as i dont use carbon can i just put some extra sponge in there instead

god i`m so fed up of this blinkin filter,finally discovered leak is coming from the hose adapter unit,i managed to get through to tetra customer services who are sending me a replacement part out,i must say there customer service is excellent, where would i buy silicon grease?

tried that,no luck, phoned them,no joy till monday,

as title says,i have cleaned filter today and now its leaking,water is pouring out from where the locking handles are,i`v assembled and re-assembled approx 4 times,do you think it could poss be the o ring?everything else,pump ect is working fine

before i had the tetratec i had the eheim 2028(big mistake selling it)i think i`m trying to achieve the impossable(cant spell that) my tank is 240ltr heavy planted rainbow tank, and i dont want to spoil the appearance by adding powerheads,i think their ugly, and i dont want to run 2 filters,this...

I have a ex 1200 on my 240 ltr tank and i dont think its flow is that good at all.i'd go with Eheim if you can afford it. I'v heard the classics are good
