Can Anyone Reccomend A Good Algae Scraper Thing?

Use a window cleaning blade. They are proper razor blades. You can buy a handle to hold them to make it easier if it helps. You can buy blades online at http://www.wintecs.co.uk I reccomend the mini scraper at 60p ish and then scraper blades to fit it. I use these all the time. One...

Clown Loach Stocking In My Tank

When I got my tank second hand it only had one CL. I got another 2 and it made a big difference. It turned the first one from shy and hiding to playing and swimming around with the new ones all the time. As a suggestion to the loss of your CL's. CL's are not good in tanks that are immature...

What Rainbowfish Do You Like For A 90g?

I keep parkinsons and blue rainbows and they are good. Parkinsons stay in the top half and blues go everywhere. Parkinsons sem to really get on with Panchax as well.

Dead Guppie And Clown Loach With Whitespot

I would take the thinkfish guidelines with a pinch of salt. Although I think the site is a good one, the overstocking guides would seriously cram fish in.

Help My Golden Barb Tries To Float

My golden barbs have done the opposite. They sink like stones when they become ill. I put them in a hospital tank and treat with an anti bacterial solution. This has sorted things out in the past but takes a couple of weeks before they are swimming and staying balanced in the middle again.

    Clown Loaches Help

with only 2 they will fight to sort out whos boss. you would be better getting at least one more and this should help sort it out. I have 3 and they get along fine. If you have the room then ideally 5. They do get large and need a lot of room but do grow slowly

from my understanding, clown loached will love to eat any smails in there. People use them as a snail control when they have live plants. I don't personally have experience on this but this seems to be what gets written on here

    Rainbow Fish Nightmare

Just a quick note on PH. My water is 8.2 and always is. The LFS acclimatise all the fish there to this as I live in a very hard water area. This has never had a detrimental effect on my tank. I do however make sure that the tank is kept immaculate in all the other ways so the high PH is the...

    Clown Loaches

Mine do the same. They burry themselves under the bogwood and foce the gravel away. 3 of them squeeze ov top of each other to ger in and if I change it round they always find another hiding place if they want.

    Slate

garden centres have huge amounts and normally a lot cheaper than LFS. My LFS sells it at about £2 KG. Wyvalle Garden centre next door to it sells lumps at £3.50 each no matter which bit. Some of them must weigh over 20 KG ie 3 ft long bits by 10 inch deep and about 14-16" across

    Suitable For A 7.6ph

Check with your LFS as the acclimatise all there fish anyway. I live in an area where the water is 8.2 but the LFS acclimatise all there fish to this and they have most things in there.

    Drift Wood

All wood tends to be slightly different in amount of time due to shape etc etc. Best thing is to leave it in a bucket until the tanning stops. I've soaked bogwood for a month before tanning is all out. Remember fish keeping isn't a rush thing.

    Golden Sucking Loach Attack!

At 2inches he is still a young fish, it's when he gets to adult size about 4-5inches that the problems apparently really start as algea just isn't enough. My book says they tend to go for slow moving deep bodied fish when they do.

    Golden Sucking Loach Attack!

When I purchased my tank 3 of GCAE's came with it. I didn't know what they where to start with so posted to find out. After finding out the fish shop took them from me as they can be really aggressive. What I found out was that when they are young they will eat algea. As they matured they...

    Killifish

I have 5 Golden Wonder Panchax and they have really made a difference to my tank. Becuase they are always at the top, they have made all the fish that stayed near the bottom swim further up so now all the tank is used to swim arounf in. They also seem to group up with my parkinsons rainbow...

    Red Rainbow Compatability

Some people will say that rainbows shouldn't be mixed as they can cross breed. I personally have red rainbows and they are really happy with my blue rainbows and my parkinsons rainbows. Parks. are good if you need something swimming higher in the tank as they like the top quater where as reds...

    Would This Work?

To work out the weight of a tank you need to convert to metric. Then multiply length x width x height. Multiply this answer by 1000 and this will give you water volume in litres. 1 Litre = 1 KG.

    A Few Clown Loach Q's

You will need a bigger tank as they grow. Don't buy just 1 as it will be shy and hide away all the time. I had one at first from buying 2nd hand tank. I hardly ever saw it. I then found another 2 the same size so added them and then they are all together and not shy anymore. They also click...

    Quarantine Tank?

This is my own Q tank 22Litres -- Chose this just becuase I was in the LFS and it suited my needs. It also gave fish enough space. Personally I would buy this size again as when the fish get better they are not cramped and can stay in there for a bit longer When fish have been put into the...

I have a couple of red rainbows and unlike my blue rainbows and parkinsons rainbows they do have a tendancy to act territorial. Apparently they can be quite aggressive towards the females of their own too.

    High Nitrate

I think most books will recommend that below 40ppm is what is best. I never allow my tank to go over this. I would say that 120 is high and would recommend a water change to reduce it. although nitrate isn't harmful like nitrite it does mean the water quality is not good so fish could be more...

    Plastic To Real

    Clown Loach

Just a quick addition to anyone who hasn't kep clown loaches, they sleep on their sides a lot. My 3 regularly lie on their sides. This is part of their behaviour and are well known for it. No one should get alarmed by this behaviour unless there is another obvious illness.

    My Fish Are Dying

Are you sure you are water testing correctly. It sounds amazing that you have Nitrate of 0 on a mature tank. I never manage to get mine below 10 and the water from the tap has between 5 and 10 before I add it. If the tests are faulty then perhaps it could be that the ammonia and nitite tests...

Help Nitrate Level Gone Through The Roof

Do you mean nitrite? On a mature tank it should be Amonia 0 Nitrite 0 Nitrate This should be below 40. But the lower the better 40 is the tops that you would want it to get to. Amonia and Nitrite are what are harmful to fish until bacteria change it to Nitrate. Nitrate will just start...
