I keep parkinsons and blue rainbows and they are good. Parkinsons stay in the top half and blues go everywhere. Parkinsons sem to really get on with Panchax as well.

My golden barbs have done the opposite. They sink like stones when they become ill. I put them in a hospital tank and treat with an anti bacterial solution. This has sorted things out in the past but takes a couple of weeks before they are swimming and staying balanced in the middle again.

from my understanding, clown loached will love to eat any smails in there. People use them as a snail control when they have live plants. I don't personally have experience on this but this seems to be what gets written on here

i just use a raror blade to clean my glass. Go to a decorators and get scraper blades. I use them as a window cleaner and they do not scratch your glass and they will get the algea off in 5 mins

Mine do the same. They burry themselves under the bogwood and foce the gravel away. 3 of them squeeze ov top of each other to ger in and if I change it round they always find another hiding place if they want.

garden centres have huge amounts and normally a lot cheaper than LFS. My LFS sells it at about £2 KG. Wyvalle Garden centre next door to it sells lumps at £3.50 each no matter which bit. Some of them must weigh over 20 KG ie 3 ft long bits by 10 inch deep and about 14-16" across

Check with your LFS as the acclimatise all there fish anyway. I live in an area where the water is 8.2 but the LFS acclimatise all there fish to this and they have most things in there.

All wood tends to be slightly different in amount of time due to shape etc etc. Best thing is to leave it in a bucket until the tanning stops. I've soaked bogwood for a month before tanning is all out. Remember fish keeping isn't a rush thing.

are you using water treatments when you so your water change? Are your other fish behaving normal? Rainbows do change colour, my red and blue rainbows can change from really bright to dull in 30 mins at a time.

Which would be the best easy to keep plants on a gravel bottomed tank. Different sites give different views so thought i'd ask some people.

Just a quick addition to anyone who hasn't kep clown loaches, they sleep on their sides a lot. My 3 regularly lie on their sides. This is part of their behaviour and are well known for it. No one should get alarmed by this behaviour unless there is another obvious illness.

Are you sure you are water testing correctly. It sounds amazing that you have Nitrate of 0 on a mature tank. I never manage to get mine below 10 and the water from the tap has between 5 and 10 before I add it. If the tests are faulty then perhaps it could be that the ammonia and nitite tests...

Do you mean nitrite? On a mature tank it should be Amonia 0 Nitrite 0 Nitrate This should be below 40. But the lower the better 40 is the tops that you would want it to get to. Amonia and Nitrite are what are harmful to fish until bacteria change it to Nitrate. Nitrate will just start...
