    New Angel Getting Nipped

I wouldn't ever recommend keeping gouramis and angels together, I am sure many have had success but I tried it and they were constantly chasing. I think they both want to be the top fish and seeing as they are both quite large species they might look similar to each other - angels are best kept...

    Sponge Filters

Without knowing what filter you have its hard to say - but PLEASE don't change your filter pads every week!!!!! The white pads are the biological ones which hold all the good bacteria which eats the ammonia in the tank, your fish will die without these!!! When they get really mucky you can rinse...

    Recommended Lfs?

I agree!! maidenhead is great, my local stores were Dartford and Orpington, now I've moved its the Bourne End one or the larger Iver store. All the staff know what they are doing and they always have some lovely display tanks. The Dartford one has an enormously tall malawi tank and Iver has...

    Hi Need Help Desperatly.

Hi Ginge, I'm sorry for all the problems you are having, that's rough  Have you thought about isolating the harleys away from the angels to stop it spreading more? I guess if some have it then its kind of avoidable that it will spread..........I really hope you have caught it early enough...

    Tankmates For Angelfish

Jay - thanks I read that post before I began a new thread but it didn't tell me specifically the other fish I could put with angels it just said stocking levels. Ginge - harlequins are a good choice I didn't think of those, thanks. Are zeb danios too frantic for angels?

    Tankmates For Angelfish

Hi all I have a 126l tank , which equates to 28 UK gallons. Its 31.5" long x 14" deep x 18" high, how many angels could I comfortably house? I was thinking two but would they terrorise each other? I have kept them before in a larger aquarium when I had 4 angels. When I stock my tank...

My New 20 Gallon Finally Done.

how long was the old filter cartridge not being used for? E.g if it wasn't being used in a tank when you swapped it over the all the good bacteria will have died as there would be no ammonia to feed them. You say you aren't adding fish tonight - please tell me you aren't going to add them...

    First New Tank

I stand by the Fluval internal filters, they stick on the tank side via suckers and they are great if you can't afford the expense or room of the externals. I buy the next size up for what they recommend (e.g if it says for aquariums up to 10 gallons, I'd buy the next size up) then you can be...

    New To Cichlids.....

What cichlids are you hoping to get? I didn't have any live plants with my mbuna tanks, they were too hyper to tolerate plants in their way!!! I used lava and tufa rock to build a good selection of caves for them (instead of one large cave as they would quarrel over that). I found mine very...
