    New Set Up.

My 215 litre tank, now set up again after selling VERY large gourami and oscar, has been running with existing filters and semi-cleaned gravel, for about 2 weeks. I have put 8 rummy nose tetras in to see how they manage. All levels when tested were nil. Hoping to transfer 3 4inch discus in soon...

    Discus And Filters?

is a bare bottom the best solution and why do I need to paint the glass? i have a 45 gallon tank with a 7 inch oscar and a 8 inch giant gourami. I plan to use the large tank for the discus eventually, they are only about 3 inches at the moment. The oscar, I am trying to rehome (free) as he is a...

    Discus And Filters?

Is a bare bottom How small are they? If they are babies, about 2", then the tank is just enough, but they will eventually need to be moved to a larger tank. I'm assuming you are trying to grow them out, so you can make it a BB (bare bottom) tank, but the thin layered substrate will also work...

I am about to move 5 smallish discus and feel that I need a better filter. The tank is about 24x15x12 and I am only going to put a fine layer of gravel on the bottom. What can anyone suggest would be suitable? Do they need much water movement or do they prefer stiller waters? They are very...

    Oscar And Ammonia!

The old tank was brown cloudy. The new tank is crystal clear, and levels are still nil. She seems happy enough but am keeping the feeding to a minimum. I have lowered the temp to about 28C, and will add an airstone tomorrow. I know oscars are a bit messy, had a pair a few years ago, but will not...

I have recently purchased a baby Jack Dempsey, only 1.5 inches, but I know how large they get: I had one many years ago, about 8 inches, in a community tank. Blue Lobster And Planerian Worms

I have had a blue lobster in a medium sized tank for 8 months, molted three times, and seems to be very healthy, and he is on his own, he likes the taste of baby barbs!! The only problem is small white-ish worms on the glass, and at night, small wriggling similar sized worms in the water, risin...
