Selling all fish, urgent listing **ENDED**

No unfortunately 💔 My babies went to the fish shop down the road... Got nothing for them ofc. A pain, but c'est la vie. I predict that my future holds a monster fish tank with a big fat sailfin plec. If and when that comes into fruition, I'll update my profile to show off whatever that will...

Legal to own Red Arowana in the U.K.

They're legal in the UK as far as I'm aware. Mick's Fish is a good channel and I'm subscribed to him, but I can't stand how he just adds and adds and adds to every tank he can until they're bursting with fish. Not much reason to own an arowana other than the aesthetic purposes, but at the same...

    Favorite CLEAN songs

What an absolutely foul thing to air out... I do not want to hear about your religious biases, nor why you feel as though it's at all necessary or appropriate to bring up when talking about gay culture. Homosexuality does not have "standards" beyond the standard of showing everyone basic...

    Advice on scaping?

Looks great already, like @DragonScales+Doubletails said, I would go for some more plants. When in doubt, some good robust plants make things better in my opinion. A background for the tank could also make the internal decor pop. Not an awful lot of space for more hardscaping, but you could fill...

Agreed lol, "clean" music tends to just mean heteronormative and straight-laced. Doesn't suit this kind of thread hahaha

    60litre - 200litre upgrade

If you decided not to get the barbs though, I would alternatively suggest upping the number of cardinal tetras. If you have a heavily planted tank or a tank with lots of natural decoration such as rocks, slate, e.t.c, a large shoal of cardinals can look amazing. They really brighten up the tank.

    60litre - 200litre upgrade

Great upgrade! Blue phantoms are beautiful plecs, and it's great to see that you're upgrading to accommodate it. Lovely tank as well, Fluval tends to be pretty reliable, so you've definitely not gone wrong there. I would go for it personally. There shouldn't be a huge issue with cherry barbs...

    I am so BEYOND frustrated.

I'm so, so sorry to hear this Olive! It's so terrible to watch things like this go to waste because others won't listen to you. It really is such a shame, it must be so stressful to go through. Things will get back up to code in time, just try not to let these things get too you too much, it can...

    My 10gal Blackwater tank

They're a great fish, feel like I'll end up with one in a future tank if my dad gets a say in it. One of his favourites lol, had one back in the 90s called "Fred" lol.

    My 10gal Blackwater tank

Oh really? Those can get pretty big, a real nice centerpiece fish. They look especially good in darker tanks like this imo. My mistake though 😅, featherfins and s. nigriventris look similar when small!

    My 55gal tank

Precisely!! I think it's the way the eyes look kind of sunken in? In art, if you want to make the eyes stand out as creepy, you have them focus on the viewer and illustrate them sunken back into the sockets, which is the sort of way morays look, but without any special effects!

Wow, looking good! That plec is a beauty, very striking eyes and pronounced colourings on the body. The eel's quite the eye-catcher too! Scary little dude, love it.

40 litre Tropical Community Tank Improvement 2022

Regularly, ceramic pots are fine. However, some paints can be toxic to fish. Acrylic paint can flake off over time and poison fish; watercolour paint would dissolve and may also leech toxins; and unfortunately the glaze that appears on many painted ceramic products can dissolve into water.

10g Planted Betta Tank(my first tank)

Post has been backed up pretty much internationally recently, just hang tight and they should be with you soon! Hoping that you get them asap from here on out. Without sounding hostile, what relevance does that have to the thread?

    Plant weight strips

Depends on the type of plant, but usually they don't hinder growth. In theory if the plants are stuck into the substrate, they'll eventually root into the substrate. Unfortunately this would make it harder to remove the weights in the distant future. Something to note is that yoyo loaches are...

    Advice for a newby

I would definitely recommend a canister filter. A little pricy but I use Maidenhead Aquatics' own brand: aquamanta. EFX 400 for my 230L. It'd be good for a 50G, high capacity and relatively easy to clean. The only downside to canister filters in my opinion is that they're very heavy when full...

    Duckweed

If this is referencing your brackish tank plans for breeding your nerites, it might not be a good idea. Essjay mentioned in that thread that the other fish in your tank wouldn't tolerate added salt well, and iirc you only have the one tank?

    Contest Idea!

Haha yes! Danny and DeVito are bound by brotherhood, can't be apart from each other or Dev gets himself in a fuss haha. I suppose the issue with having pairs in the regular POTM contest is that you essentially get two entries, which could potentially apply for a pair themed contest too. That...

I'm sorry for your loss, it can be hard to cope with things like that imo - things like that make me feel guilty even if they're not inherently my fault. And yeah, the stink can be pretty bad! When I was working with all the pond fish at my local shop, had one manage to get lodged in (or...

First water change with fish 😰

Tbh I think you should stop buying "miserable" fish from Petsmart. If they look miserable, assume they're diseased and will either die or just bring disease into your tank(s). It's nice to feel like part of the RSPCA but at the end of the day, the vitality of your own aquarium(s) should be...

40 litre Tropical Community Tank Improvement 2022

You've previously mentioned in threads that if you don't have soft water to suit soft water fish, you should stick to hard water fish. Why do you keep cardinal tetras if you have hard water?

NEED help fish tank cloudy for the last 2 weeks

I would suggest doing 15 gallons per week rather than monthly. Water changes within around 30-50% are recommended by most fishkeepers with a tank of this size. Ammonia spikes can be a result of an unknown (or untreated - as in, left in your tank to rot) fish death(s); overfeeding leading to...

    Why is my water brown?

Yep, tannins from the wood in the tank. It's more noticeable in smaller tanks like yours, but tannin leeching happens regardless. The tannins lower pH and help to soften water, and can benefit fish that prefer these conditions (like bettas). Water changes will help get rid of this...

Breeding Plecos, female died what to do?

Monogamy isn't entirely common in fish so there is a chance that he will accept a new female. However, until then, there have been studies suggesting that in bonded pairs, the death of a mate can lead the surviving fish to show signs of what we perceive to be a "depressed" state. Refusal to eat...

On a whole products like this aren't acutely toxic to fish, so he should be fine. If your tank has been set up for a while, Quick Start (and similar products) won't be necessary. By the time your tank has been running for a few months, there's enough good bacteria generated within the tank to...

NEED help fish tank cloudy for the last 2 weeks

Bacterial bloom isn't common-place with established tanks, and is usually seen with recently set up tanks. Bacterial blooms that occur in mature tanks tend to be linked to high ammonia in the water, which seems to be the problem with your tank. How often do you do water changes, and roughly...
