Battery-powered air pumps for aerating your tanks are useful during power-out situations.

Cut back on the feeding, to once every 2 or 3 days...shrimp (and fish, for that matter) don't need to be fed every day

Shrimp are scavengers, they'll eat whatever they can find, they don't need special foods...in a biologically mature tank, they'll be fine How long has the tank been set up?

I use them for filling vials like you did, but rarely test my water any more My main use for them now is dosing water conditioner...much more precise than the "capfuls", which is often recommended

The Python "pump" part that connects to the faucet is actually a two-way valve; it both drains and fills the tank. But the "draining" aspect requires the faucet to be running, which is both wasting the faucet water, but draining the tank, at the same time, via a venturi effect. I use gravity...

I use a nylon stocking ("knee high", I think?) over the end of the siphon tube when I first start to empty my tank during a WC; that old water goes into my flower beds, and I don't have to monitor it. Once the water level is down a bit, but still need more water removed, I remove the stocking...

All good advice so far. Neos are easy to keep, they don't need special "shrimp food", any fish food you have on hand will suffice...just don't overfeed...as mentioned earlier, in a well established tank, they'll scavenge on the natural biofilm and infusoria that develops. IME, blanched veggies...

I have soft water, and my Neos flourish. Stop adding anything but Prime during WC's. A STABLE PH and KH are much safer than ones that fluctuate all of the time. I would never add a "cave" made of food, either...
