Discus - Having A Tough Time Telling The Boy From The Girl

Thanks for your comment, you're right, they need to grow a bit more. My tank is only 180L, don't think i can squeeze anymore in, since increasing feed, seems to have calmed down a little. fingers crossed.

Discus - Having A Tough Time Telling The Boy From The Girl

Hello fellow fish addict.... I've decide to come back to the hobby and managed to get myself a pair of lovely discus that I thought had bonded. They were swimming together at a LFS on multiple visits, so I just assumed. Got them back to the tank for at least 3 months now, the tank is doing...

Can Someone Please Let Me Know What Is Happening To My Plants!

Hello, I had the same problem when my NO3 got too low, it's better since increasing NO3 dosing. Just wondering if you managed to check your water parameter? I don't see any values being posted. cheers

    What Co2 System

THe JBL pressurised kit will be more than able to handle 260L. They do come with an extra lenght of reactor. You could get a glass ceramic diffuser, much better CO2 diffusion. I am using Profi 2 set, very pleased with it. by the way, if you're interested in a second hand set, PM me, as I'm...

    Jbl Diffuser Or Pump Inlet

of course you can use an airstone, but i think the pores in an airstone is not fine enough to produce a fine mist of co2. i personally don't like the idea of injecting into filter, it's noisy and sometimes air pocket can form, especially in canister filter. there's also issues of plastics not...

    Jbl Diffuser Or Pump Inlet

hi ian. I use JBL co2 as well. I have to say the jbl diffuser is crap, too big too ugly. But does it job okay. Since then, i've been using ceramic diffuser. the best way to diffuse co2 in my opinion. go for it and you won't regret it. :D

    Rio 180

hum....? dont remember exactly, but i think there's 3-4 bags worth of that stuff in there. I like it very much, looks natural. Have noticed anaerobic bubbles building up though, despite having substrate heater.

    Rio 180

hiya, I've got a rio 180 with very similar setup to yours. filter - bog standard internal and fluval 405 external. Lights - 4 X 30watts eco-complete substrate CO2 - pressurised EI dosing and also seachem Excel Plants grow like there's no tomorrow, but i do think that the lighting is a little...

    Diy Co2 Regulators

welcome to the forum. first thing first, I think you meant a REACTOR not a regulator. Regulator normally goes on to a CO2 cylinder (pressurised system) having a DIY regulator is no joke, it is dangerous. Anyway, as for reactor, there's so many types, simple bell type like the one you shown us...

    Jbl Co2 Solenoid

cheers. I do have a check valve, it came with the JBL setup, so is the tubing i.e. should be CO2 resistance. I know it is silly, I don't like having electrical stuff switched on perpetually. It's just me, if i can do with out it then i rather have it removed. If i can that is. btw, what...

    Jbl Co2 Solenoid

I found that in the morning after the period of CO2 shut off, my plants do not pearl until late afternoon. I assume it is because CO2 level has to be built up. secondly, I noticed that sometimes the diffuser does not give off CO2 after the shut off. I'd have to increase the pressure a liitle to...

How Much Light For 2 Gallons?

Your pico setup looks cool. Is there a filter anywhere? It is almost like a biosphere. Anyhow, not an expert on small tank setup but 15watts does sound alot for a 2G setup. However, because it is small and the surface area to volume ratio is much higher to conventional setup eg 40-60G, so... i...

    Jbl Co2 Solenoid

I've got a JBL's CO2 setup with solenoid (profi2) Since I've added more plants, the co2 runs 24 hours a day, hence the solenoid is essentially a waste of space and electricity. I removed the solenoid to find that the air pipe does not connect to the regulator. Does anyone know what parts do i...

    My Latest Attempt..... Planted Tank

I know i'm sad, but i admit it. Rearranged the tank AGAIN! freed up a bit more space for the discus to swim around. would appreciate your views. compared to the old setup you like?

    My Latest Attempt..... Planted Tank

i only do 25-30% water change twice weekly. Seems to be okay so far. i think you will still need water change regardless of plant density, it won't prolonged the period in between water change. Once you get used to it water change takes 10 minutes tops, for me anyway. cheers

    My Latest Attempt..... Planted Tank

sorry chaps, been away for the past two days. Yeap those mosquitos are great to watch, but some has became one with my discus. HAHA. JArtiles305: in terms of keeping dicus, they are no trouble at all in my experience. Just regular water change and they are quite happy. They are happy to take...

    Algae Problem In Discus Tank

Do you keep the discus in a bare bottom tank? or planted? treatment would be a bit different between the two. and check phosphate too.

Succesful Tank Without Co2 And Fert?

I think !WPG = 1WPG, look at your keyboard. :D hornwart works fine in a tank. tobe honest, CO2 is not really essential if lighting in low. Root tab = fertiliser that you put into the gravel for the plant. I love CO2 and dosing fert, plant growth explodes and it's pretty amazing when...

    3 Questions About 2 Plants

Vertically planted anubias nana? I think you might have seen FishKillerNoMore's journal, they are planted ON a vertical pole or some sort. Just going off track for a sec, although branded as 'slow growing' in a suitable condition they do grow quite rapidly. I find new leaves almost every day...

    Vishvet Co2 Drop Check.

Never use one before, but if it's a permanent CO2 indicator, i think you will need a colour reference card to go with it. So, you will need the instruction card, where the colour chart will normally be.

    My Latest Attempt..... Planted Tank

Been to the LFS (again). Got my CO2 refilled. Thinking that my tank would look better with a shoal of something, (thanks for everyones opinion), do have 6 glowlights didn't want anymore as they can be quite big(ish), and they are a lazy bunch hardly swim around. THinking of something more...

    My Latest Attempt..... Planted Tank

The substrate is Eco-Complete. I've been contemplating removing the bog wood on the left. Centralise the one on the right and point it towards the left front corner. Will have some spare time next week to do a bit of rearranging.

    Dymax Co2 Diffuser

Yeap, running 2 per secs, a little quiter. Just out of interest, between the ADA stuff and Fishvet stuff, which one would you personally recommend? I know you get what you pay for, but not all of us owns an oil refinery. If it really does make that much of a difference, I suppose i'll choose...

Where To Find That Perfect Bog Wood!

I don't think you'll ever find that perfect piece. Everyone has their own opinion of a perfect bogwood, what shape/colour/size it should be. Then you walk into LFS scouting around, something else strikes you. You'll say that piece looks just fine in my tank. I think it's abit like working with...

How Do You Trim Twisted Vallis?

Yeah, cut it just below the water line. But i do prefer them arching over the surface of the water, looks more natural.
  37. C

    Dymax Co2 Diffuser

I see. I suppose what you pay is what you get. I could get a few more fishies with the price of one ADA diffuser. I've also noticed that the dynamax diffuser can be quite noisy.

    Dymax Co2 Diffuser

Hey, I bought exactly the same diffuser about a month ago, i have the same problem. Now there are two points where bubble escape instead of one. Sounds like i need to give them a call too.

    Lonely Ram

I had a pair of golden german ram once. they spawned a few times, really bonded. The female died. The male became shy and reclusive. Lost its colour, then died 2 weeks later. Died of loneliness, how sad. Bless them both. Not sure how it's gonna help you, maybe you could introduce another...
