My Latest Attempt..... Planted Tank

right, against my better judgement, went out and bought some more riccia. covering most of the bigger bog wood. also bought some anubias petite version, all tied to the bog wood on the left.
will upload some pics later, lets see how it gets on.

your tank is looking fine, and your fishes too,

What kind of food you feeding them?

Kamel

Looking better now :)

A big improvement mate, i was thinking your Amazon swords needed to be seperated, with some to the right in front of the filter and the rest at the back, but you beat me to the punch

You might struggle with the glosso with standard juwel lights, in lower lights it tends to grow up instead of carpeting, but time will tell.

Have you thought about using java moss instead of riccia, its a little less labour intensive and easyer to keep, it would look the business covering most the bogwood.

Simon.

They're a picky bunch, nothing but live or frozen food will do. they don't even bother with flakes. Only the best will do, only the best.

hehe.... great minds think alike.

Am struggling with them glosso, got 2.67WPG, but they still want to go upwards. quite like how it looks at the moment, fingers crossed in a few months will have a lush thick carpet.

Too late with regards to the riccia, bought some this PM and they're ON the bogwood now.

Looks great :) you could probably do with something mid hight between the glosso and bogwood, to help grade it up from the low glosso at the front to the tall swords at the back, like an anubias or something.

Photo Update

what a difference a few days make.

quite pleased with it

So...did your anubias nana petite cost you a small fortune? I know mine did

Tank's looking great! :good: I'm quite surprised about your cabombas. I don't know if it's the photo angle or something, but the stems look enormous!!! :hyper:

thanks. the anubias nana were sitting in a pot at the LFS. Bought the lot for less than a tenner.

Nice looking tank Cheese.
What substrate are you using?
If I was to be hyper critical I'd say your hardscaping needed a move around.
It seems to just form a barrier across your tank. Maybe move the left hand wood towards the other piece and form more of a triangle look to the structure. It would also give your discus more of a swimming space.
As to the discus I think they are the best looking of all, very natural looking.

The substrate is Eco-Complete.

I've been contemplating removing the bog wood on the left. Centralise the one on the right and point it towards the left front corner. Will have some spare time next week to do a bit of rearranging.

Tank is looking great Cheese! I can't get over how beautiful your discus are, I hope you decide not to switch them out for more fancy varieties. They really add character to your tank. I agree that a school of rummynose might round off the tank, but I'm not sure Rummynose and Discus make the best tank companions.

Again, great job, love the pearling lotus. :good:

Crikey! That looks amazing! I love the pearling lily, thats always one for the photo album.

Been to the LFS (again). Got my CO2 refilled. Thinking that my tank would look better with a shoal of something, (thanks for everyones opinion), do have 6 glowlights didn't want anymore as they can be quite big(ish), and they are a lazy bunch hardly swim around. THinking of something more energetic.

soo.....

got a whole bunch of mosquito harlequin, only 2cm max size, darts around great to watch. Only to prove the rule of aquatics is true. IF IT FITS THE MOUTH, IT GOES INTO THE MOUTH.

They really energised the whole tank, never seen my discus swim so fast before. I think i might have lost 4 of the 15 harlequin in the first hour. The rest knew where to hide and stayed away.

I suppose they are better than frozen food. :/
