    George's Journal

It looks good - the bubble are captured well and the texture of the leaf, I think it may be a little better if you could soften the edges very slightly (not too much). Especialy in the bottom right area. Good pic though - I like it

    Co2 Alternative Systems

Hi everyone, I'm currently using the Hagen CO2 system in my record 60 - its good but getting a pain to re-fill all the time to keep the level in the water up. I also keep getting horrible slime on the first rung of the ladder which stops the bubbles - then its a case of awkwardly ketting the...

    Erythromycin To Treat Bga

Thanks a lot George, it's right under the filter intake on the floor where there's not much circulation, it's the side nearest a window (not directly infront) and the nitrates are 5 (just tested) so i'll get them up a bit. So your theory is right above. I'll soon get it gone - thanks for your...

    Erythromycin To Treat Bga

thanks everyone. i had it about 7 or 8 months ago - i managed to get 5 tabs of proper maracyn then. i think it came back as i had a collection of debris fora few days around the filter. there's very very little but i want to nip it in the bud. thanks for the replies, Simon

    Erythromycin To Treat Bga

Hi, Is Erythromycin the same as Maracyn? I can't find any "Maracyn" in the UK but I'm pretty sure I've got the first signs of BGA. Does anyone know what the dose would be too? This is the place I was looking at getting it from - although there's 100 tablets - does it keep...

    Moss Balls

yeah they grow pretty fast, the one on the left here was taken from the one on the right... ... theres a nice tank in the small section of the AGA this year who has left them to grow flat like a carpet.

    Moss Balls

Hiya, Yeah thats right, just tear it into two, roll it around in your hands to make it round and it will do fine. You may find you have to roll them now and then so they keep their shape but yeah they are cool things Simon

    My Tank Pictures

Hi Zig, I change the CO2 every week - I get about 20 ppm but it keeps algae away, if it drops for a few days I soon get a bit coming onto the vallis leaves. Sorry what does POS mean? I find the filter pretty good realy, I've read they aren't powerful enough for the tank but I have no issues...

    My Tank Pictures

Hi everyone, here's a few pictures of my tank taken tonight. It's a low tech tank, Juwel Rekord 60 with the standard lighting (Dennerle Special Plant tube), Hagen C02 system and a lighting period of 4 hours on, three hours off, four hours on. I previously had this tank with 3 wpg and some more...

Hi, fi$hys, nice to see another Derby person  Maidenhead Aquatics in Findern (about 10 / 15 mins from Derby centre) have some very good java moss at the moment, I think it was around the £2.50 mark for a good sized pot of it. Simon

    Blue Green Outbreak

Everyone above has said it all realy Joe, its an ugly thing to look at too I admit! It wold be worth getting some maracyn in stock too as when I did a blackout for the same reason it was fine for a week to ten days, then it started creeping back. A good dose of Maracyn put stop to it and I...

    C02 Bubble Counter

Hiya, It should be ok left on at night. If you add more yeast, you get more bubbles. I do the normal sugar, then a level teaspoon of yeast and a heaped spoon of bi-carb. What are you mixing currently?

Cal's High Tech Planted 20 Long

Hi Cal, that is a lot of light! You really do need pressurised, that link will work, but you'll to get 3 or 4 of them, and change the mix every few days to keep the rate up. I wouln't have thought it was much of a hazard in a bedroom? EDIT: I know this sounds silly but would taking the...

    C02 Bubble Counter

Hi, is it the Hagen Co2 system? On mine I have one bubble every 2 or 3 seconds which seems to do me fine. If you measure your KH and pH you can work out the Co2 content of your tank by using this table - aim to be somewhere in the green section. Simon

    29 Gallon Planted Tank

    Java Moss - Low Light
