the thermostat sensor will only detect the water temp of the water around it so say your tank is 4 foot or over it will only warm up one end while the other end remains cool. having heater each end means a constant level temp Dave

i used a electronic temp gauge to check each end of the tank plus the middle to help get a balance in temp. Dave

the eheim 2028 pro II, are nice and quite i have two in my tanks would not use anything else Dave

if you search around other fish shops in your area go for the eheim's, i have two 2028 they are great, have used other make but nothing matches eheim Dave

tell him to stick it as it is not the item you thougth you had bit for, it is against the ebay rules also check with trading standards i.m sure they will back you you bit mabe a fair price for that item but it is not the item you wanted Dave
