    snakelocks anemone is brackish?

According to one book at Barnes & Noble there are two types of anemones that are fitting for a brackish set-up. I wrote their names down in my notebook, but who knows where I put that. So I'll stop by B&N to look it up again and let you know what it says. My question is...where would you find...

    20 Gallon tank diary

Are you sure its a long? I have three 20g long tanks and your tank seems a bit tall. It looks more like a 30g to me. Oh...what do I know? heh

    ID needed

I bought a piece of LR a few weeks ago and when I picked it out of the bin this thing fell off the rock. The guy picked it up and gave it to me not knowing what it was. So I just drop it in my tank to see what it does, if anything. At first I thought it was dead, but then I realized it was...

    Oranges in goldfish tanks?

I give my goldfish a variety of vegetables and fruits. I've heard that grapefruit is usually a big hit with pond fish, like comets.

All the pictures of commons that I find have a much different pattern, more mottled than mine. I'll try and get a better picture of him in the light so you can see the rest of his pattern on his fins and tail. :/

    Pleco identification...

Okay...I'm looking for correct information on my plecos. I'm looking for correct scientific names in particular. Here is a picture of one...believed to be a Trinidad. At one time it was also thought to be a Sailfin. This was bought as a Chocolate Albino. Is there another common name for this...

    aggresive f8

It doesn't sound like gill flukes... Another question...did you acclimate the puffer to that salinity or did you introduce him from the bag to that salinity. Chances are, because most LFS are irresponsible and don't have the resources to have seperate tanks, the puffer was in freshwater at...

    Firefish Goby

We had two firefish...cute but they hide a lot in a reef setting. A LOT. We also have an open top...well partially open top tank. They both jumped out. If you have a closed tank and don't mind him hiding all the time then go for it. They're cute little boogers.

How much dose it cost to start up a saltwater tank

I second that. To add to it though...even when going in with a lot of money for set-up doesn't mean you're done spending money. This is especially true if you decide to keep corals...which are like an addiction and not a particularly cheap one at that. If you don't know much about saltwater...

How much dose it cost to start up a saltwater tank

Depends on what size tank you use, whether you want live rock and/or live sand bed (which I personally wouldn't go without either), what type of filter system you choose to use, what type of lighting you need or want, protein skimmer, calcium reactor, sump, refugium, powerheads, heaters, blah...

New pictures of boyfriend's corals and one of my freshwater tanks. His: Geno, the Lawnmower. Snail. Spartacus and Siren...(I need to figure out how to take clown pictures with my digital...) Torch coral. Toadstool Sarcophyton. Green Star Polyp. Trumpet and tri-Xenia. Trumpet Xenia...

    Would these fish be compatible?

That's a pretty cool idea. I've always wanted a custom L-shaped tank with thoughts of doing the same since I'm also a fan of puffers who are a no-no with almost all of my other favorite fish  You should look online for pictures or blueprints for tanks similiar to your idea to get...

    Would these fish be compatible?

:D I'll tell you one thing...a pair or two of Black & White Perculas or an all black Percula would be a nice addition. Keep in mind that Clown gobies, along with most gobies, are pretty docile fish so ANYTHING that might taunt them would be a bad idea...and I would MUCH rather have the clown...

    Anyone ever kept octopus?

If I were to buy an octopus I would certainly steer clear of the blue-ring...beautiful but highly poisonous. I couldn't imagine the escape and my cats or dog getting a grabful. :look: BTW If you order LR from Tampa Bay Saltwater you have a 65% chance of bringing home an octopus hitch hiking...

    Goldfish + plec

As far as coldwater tanks go, I am not sure you can keep any of those with golds. However, if you get fancy goldfish and throw a heater on that tank you can get a dojo or a pleco (I think the common pleco will end up "slime coat sucking" as they get older, at least thats what I've been told) so...

    Figer 8 puffer

Yes, good points. The larger the tank the easier to keep the perimeters stable...this is especially true if this is the first brackish tank you've worked with... Sorry about the wrong website. Figer 8 puffer

I do know Pufferpunk, she is a current on another forum I frequent, but with all respect I wouldn't go on that third post where one person mentions the 1 per 10g. The sad thing about forums, websites, and I'm learning even books is that information is varied upon the author. It is better to do...

    puffers

What do you feed him? My porcupine used to get bored if I didn't feed him enough live food. One time he stopped eating for a week so I bought him a crayfish and he tore into it. I was just asking because I know some people just feed their puffers, or fish in general, frozen or freeze-dried...

    Green Spotted Puffers and Gobies

I have a mix of both plastic and live; however, the reason for that is because I'm not a successful gardener, underwater or in the ground :/ I have live java fern and a wide selection of plastics. I hope to convert to a full live planted tank one day...but I spent $60 on plants my first time...

    Green Spotted Puffers and Gobies

I have a GSP, a F8, and two Bumble Bee gobies in a 20g long. I haven't had a problem out of either one of them. They are both 2 1/2" long right now and soon they will be parting ways because the GSP is moving into a much larger and much saltier tank. Patience. If you do add something with your...

    Fungus?

I bought a new Oranda that had been fine for two weeks up until a few days ago. I noticed my Calico Fantail "kissing" her, at first it appeared that he was nudging her with his nose...but upon further watching I think he might have been sucking on her scales. I placed her in a breeder box to...

A good site to buy fish from?

Have you asked them to special order you something? I have yet to buy from a store online because as low as some prices are, shipping is usually kills the deal. Like one sight, regardless of how big or small the order is, charges $24.95 for shipping. They had a $5 fish that my LFS's hasn't been...

    Confused???

Hmm...beats me. Are you sure he's a pond comet? The only thing that seems to make sense to me is that he is a common goldfish... Hand tame fish?

Between my six tanks I have many of my fish eating from my hand and who swim over when they see me. I have freshwater, brackish, and saltwater tanks. Some of the fish that are hand tame are my Calico Ryukin, Dwarf Puffers, actually all of my puffers (except the new guy who is still shy), two...

    Confused???

The issue about warmer temperatures applies to fancies (Ryukin, Fantails, Orandas, Moors) not Comets, Koi, etc. This is only my knowledge, but I wouldn't use the heater on a Comet. What size tank do you have? And what exactly do you mean by "ages?" Forever doesn't mean six months. If you've had...
