Okay...I'm looking for correct information on my plecos. I'm looking for correct scientific names in particular.

Here is a picture of one...believed to be a Trinidad. At one time it was also thought to be a Sailfin.

This was bought as a Chocolate Albino. Is there another common name for this fella?

I also purchased a Rubber Pleco today for $3...am I wrong in thinking they're normally priced much higher around $24?

I appreciate any help, thanks!

Top one looks like a common to me (commons have a lot of color variation) though I'm not the best at identifying some plecs. The second one is definitely a Rhino Plec which AFAIK is the same as a Chocolate Plec and grows over a foot long.

All the pictures of commons that I find have a much different pattern, more mottled than mine. I'll try and get a better picture of him in the light so you can see the rest of his pattern on his fins and tail. :/

First one is a sailfin (gibbiceps)

the 2nd is a colour morph of a common plec.
It is'nt a 'chocolate aka rhino' I'm affraid.

Really? I've never seen a common with that coloration before. I always thought Choc/Rhinos looked similar... must need my eyes checked.

Hi mazyp, I got you PM...

If you have a search for posts in the catfish section with breeding as the search word - you'll find loads of info. ;)
