My nitrite finally goes away, but when I check my nitrate there is'nt any! I checked my ammonia and it had a green tinge to it. Does anyone know what is going on?! (Also I have a brown algae problem too, so advice on how to get rid of that would also be great.)

thanks, I'll look into getting a larger tank. I wanted something small to start with that's why I got a 10 gallon. I might get a 30 gallon once I get the hang of fishkeeping.

try putting something acidic like vinegar or lemon juice. If it fizzes it will raise your ph. (as another test you should do)

Like what garyspence84 said, it sinks when it sinks, but If you want to, I heard you can attach  it to a piece of plexiglass and put that under the substrate The piece of plexiglass under the substrate.

try some driftwood, it will release tannins that will lower ph. It will discolor the water some though. You should boil it or soak it if it is too big for a pot for one to two weeks until the water is as light as possible. You need to get it to sink of coarse too.
