    Snake Help

We bought some silk worms from the previously mentioned website but their quality for silk worms was poor, they died pretty quickly. We have a friend with them though who supplies us and is helping us start our own colony. If it ever takes off properly, I'll send you some. With the roaches, we...

How Do You Get Up From An All Time Low?

I know how you feel with this: one the day we were getting our new carpets delivered, an allegedly happy day, I was woken by the police entering my home via axe: we had a burst pipe leaking water through two other flats. Nice of them go knock. Or use the water isolation valve that is outside...

Is My Home Made Fish Tank Stand Safe ?

The electric bit there was an analogy/similie to the effort to put some polystyrene on. If you would rather have some piece of mind about the kitchen worktop bowing, brace with some 44mm x 44mm timber.

No problemo. I would send you some, but our colony is quite diminished by the recent additions, having to buy some more in to boost the colony :s

Is My Home Made Fish Tank Stand Safe ?

Really thoroughly recommend it. Its a pain in the rear, not as much as a fracture. Its easier and cheaper to double check the electric is definitely off than it is to resuscitate a dead person, even though it does mean getting out that crawl space and back into it again.

Very dragon friendly. We have been using them along with crix in our guys diets for quite a while now and are recognised as one of the most nutritious livefoods you can give. Some nutritional info for you: http://www.roachcolony.com/Nutritional-Value-17-w.asp We also feed silk worms as a...

He is looking good! We use them (maybe a bit too much) and recommend their quality. We havent bothered with breeding crix, they are a bit of a pain in the butt tbh, but the roaches are really really easy.

    Aaaaarrgggghhhh Escape

We had noticed the viv locks as well, although at our time of ordering we had trouble locating them in the UK and someone forum posts suggested they still weren't brilliant. A lock on a beardie home isnt mad: I've got all 3 of ours wedged shut, but used laminate flooring wedge blocks instead.

    Aaaaarrgggghhhh Escape

We did have metal slide locks but found (along with a lot of others I have spoken to) that they fit really really badly on vivexotics. Im now a fan of the dead bolt locks for vivs, bit that requires drilling of the glass to fit, not for the faint hearted. This guys is now in Alcatraz, took one...

You can create a colony and a breeding programme easily with these guys to get a continuous sources and...

Is My Home Made Fish Tank Stand Safe ?

Just in case, want to reiterate in a different way here: the polystyrene blocks you have right nkw, throw them in the bin and clear your mind of all thought of them. Now, you need a sheet of polystyrene, which is 6' x 2' which sits under your tank. The purpose is to remove any imperfections...

    Lighting Poll

I have only needed to replace specialist UVB reptile bulbs on a timescale because these do loose their UVB strength through time.   On the tank, just upgrading to 3 tubes right now, 2 primary tubes and a third "high noon" that is on a shorter timer for the middle of the day.

    Snake Help

Snakes are commonly heated via heat mat as they are on the ground anyway, unless you have arboreal snakes. Most species do not need uvb, but if you want to supply it, stick to a 2% bulb or house above a mesh screen (like an exoterra) if going above 2% is my recommendation. Dragons are...

    Fish Id?

Bang on! Thought it to be some kind of eel but kept finding ones with a skirting type bit on the top. Was at a sea life centre today and saw this today but it had no info as the place is undergoing a large revamp.

I used to feeding out of the home. You need to wait till the food is fully swallowed (give about 30 mins after swallowing) then whilst supporting as much of the body as you can, lift n shift with minimal handling and moving inbetween.

    Rorie's Fish House Project

Foe anyone unaware, this is part of the process for making chloramines, which are safer for human consumption hence why its fit for drinking water. Why it goes up during heavy rainfall baffles me though as all treated drinking water is stored in sealed reservoirs here.

You get a basic "internal parasite" med from interpet etc. - they are catch-all type meds rather than parasite specific.

^^ i have often wondered about this one. I stick to the good owners guide & use an ice cream lid for my aspen bedded snakes, but it absolutelty befuzzles me why a snake thay can digest BONE cannot eat a bit of straw. Especially where thay snakes natural habitat includes such a danger.

    Filter

I had a stingray back many years ago for my betta tank, because of its low output & directional output, which wasnt common in internals back then. Since then you get things like the fluval series with directional, adjusyable output which are much better.

    Snake Help

Adult corns are pretty lazy creatures, not much activity. Don't worry about the grumpiness though: many snakes, especially ones that are fed in their vivs get a bit viv defensive. This one is also getting used to you. I had one that was so viv defensive, everything was done in the bathtub to...

    Snake Help

Serpentus is the best shop in this area Techen. The UVB is not necessary for a corn snake, you can save yourself money on your next bulb. I am led to believe feeding live food in the UK is not legal: it is considered to be causing unnecessary suffering to mice, rats, chics etc. Your corn looks...

    Coming To The End

You will think I am mental for this: I put the decholorinator straight into the tank, then connect a hose to the outlet hose of my filter to refill the tank. I simply close the tap from the filter to stop it flowing that way.

    My Tarantula Log

I find it concerning that the company keeps sending you free live creatures. I had a frozen food supplier try to provide a surprise free corn snake once (the market is kind of flooded) with no regard to whether or not we would be able to home and care for it, or want it. I have never used them...

Overclocking My Pc To The Max

Iirc overclocking is most problematic at the bleed point, where the voltage & frequency of your data channel is bleeding into the other channels creating false bits/incorrect bits. Aaaaarrgggghhhh Escape

Another little update & tip for anyone else who has an escape artist snake. Rule 1) if they escape once, it will not be their last time in a standard housing of glass/wood viv or plastic tub homing. Rule 2) immediately upgrade that homing paying attention to the following: ● if using a...

    Dealing With Summer Heat?

I would like to address a question/statement about how room temp effects fishy temp. It is all down to heat transfer. Something of a higher temp will want to transfer that energy to something of a lower temp. Normally our tanks loose heat to the room at a certain rate, but raise the average temp...
