    Hydra Infestation

Fenbendazole (Safeguard dog de-wormer from Petco) will kill hydra. Dose at .1 gram for 10 gallons. It will not kill snails. I don't know about shrimp though.

Introducing a new angel to a current one thats mate has passed away

Sometimes it works out and sometimes it doesn't. The only way to know for sure is to try it. But be sure to have a backup plan in case it doesn't.

    Bristlenose Plecos

If the tank is big enough for three yes add a male. Be sure to add a cave or two for him if you do. Males like to stay in or near a cave.

    Vallisneria Italian

Cut them from the mother plant and throw them away or give to friends (enemies). They will form an unsightly ball at the top while the ones rooted in the substrate will take over your tank.

Finally I got a bristlenose pleco spawn

It will take 5 days to use up the egg sac. Feed them after that. I rubber band a piece of zucchini to a rock and drop it in, replace every day. Keep food available for them all the time. Eat is what they do all day.

    Putting Adult Angels together????

It is worth a try. Sometimes it works out and sometimes it doesn't, the only way to know is to try. It may take a day or two for them to get used to each other. On the other hand it could be love at first sight. I have seen it both ways.

Finally I got a bristlenose pleco spawn

To keep this on topic. You can put your Pleco eggs into one of these boxes. Take off the uplift tube and hang it inside the tank with an air line and anti-fungus stuff. This stabilizes the temperature. You can do water changes as you see fit. When the eggs hatch, turn the box and hang it on the...

Finally I got a bristlenose pleco spawn

Yes those are the ones. Hang them inside without the uplift tube and an air line. I use them for Bristlenose and Cory eggs, work great.

Finally I got a bristlenose pleco spawn

Depends on the type of breeder box. I have some that are solid and can hang inside or outside the tank. They have a removable tube to provide circulation when putside. When inside, an air line provides circulation. No mixing with the tank water unless you want.

Finally I got a bristlenose pleco spawn

Do you have anti-fungus in the breeder box with the eggs, Methelene Blue or something else? Jungle fungus clear tabs work at 1/2 tab per gallon of water. If not, boost the air flow to keep a good circulation going. Just because the eggs got kicked out doesn't mean they are bad. I think...

Finally I got a bristlenose pleco spawn

5 days to hatch, 5 more days until they are ready to eat Zucchini. If you let them stay with dad until they leave the cave they will be very hard to catch. If you want to save the most babies move dad and the cave to another small tank. When the babies are ready to come out, wash them out of the...

    Angelfish Fry Balling up!

How many days since spawn? Sometimes the day before they go free swimming they will launch off the bottom and then drift back down. Could you have seen this as free swimming? As you said it could have just been the way they happened to sleep one night. After they free swim they tend to stay in a...

    Bristlenose Babies

No baby BN do not "require" live food. It can't hurt but they do just great on a Zucchini diet. They are herbivores after all and too much protein can harm them.

    Bristlenose Babies

Best to take the babies out if you want them to survive. Everybody likes to eat baby bristlenoses, even your guppy will try to eat them if he can.

Female bristlenose getting close to males cave

That should work good. Put in an air line to assure good circulation and surface agitation for oxygen exchange.

    Baby Brine Shrimp Hatchery

I have a similar three bottle setup. I keep it in an old cracked 10 gallon tank with a light bulb, light and heat at the same time. 1/2 tsp eggs, 1 heaping tablespoon plain salt, vigorous air and they hatch in 24 -36 hrs.

Female bristlenose getting close to males cave

The male might eat them, might take care of them and might kick them out. If he kicks eggs out put them in a fry box or other container with an air stone. 5 days to hatch and another 5 days before they are ready to eat. Put in small pieces of Zucchini until they recognize it as food then...

    What caves best for bristlenose

Go to Home Depot, get some 2x6 tiles and a tube of silicon. You can make two sizes of caves, a square one using 4 tiles and a triangle one using three tiles. Find something to close off the back. Bristlenose love them.

HELP - horrible problem with plecos

That is the way it is. I have noticed the same thing. You pretty much just have to live with it. Some tanks they eat the skin first and some they eat everything but the skin. Just scoop the old stuff out when you put in new.

That is a young smokey, not a half black.

Our first angelfish! Does anyone know what kind it is?

Looks like a Smokey but it is a little small to be sure. Impossible to tell the sex until they mature and start to spawn.

    Gender on Angel.

I agree it is either male or female. Almost impossible to tell until the breeding tube appear. The overall shape of this one does suggest Male. If I were to get a companion I would get a female.

Raising Cory eggs & Shrimp safe fertiliser

If the box has holes in it don't use it. As you have found out they will escape. A solid container is preferred. These work great https://kensfish.com/collections/traps-tank-dividers/products/marina-hang-on-breeding-box-medium but any container should do, your 2 liter jar, a small fish bowl, a 1...

Raising Cory eggs & Shrimp safe fertiliser

Throw the plastic divider away and put the eggs on the bottom of your breeder box. Hang it in the tank to maintain temperature and put in an air line, either open line or air stone for circulation. When they hatch in about three days put in some of the green hair algae or other plant material...

    How much to feed bristlenose

Seems like not enough to me. They are herbivores so they need to eat a lot. I would put in a chunk of Zucchini and replace it every day or every other day. if it is gone overnight, put in a bigger chunk. after a while you will get an idea how much he will eat every day.

    bristlenose breeding and genetics.

The Long fin gene is a dominate gene. That means that only one is required to express. It can be proved by mating a Standard fin (=/=) to a Long fin (Lf/+, or Lf/Lf). You will always get some Long fins proving its dominance. if it were recessive you would not get any long fins in the pairing.

Some of my Angels P, F1, and just starting F2 Generations

Albinos have weak eyes and can not find food very easy. You might do some research but if I remember right, turning down the light helps a little. You might need to separate them and treat them different than the rest. The gold gene is probably not the cause of your fishes color but it could be...

Some of my Angels P, F1, and just starting F2 Generations

You have to look at the offspring to tell the genetics of the parents. Your Ben does not look like he has either a Stripeless gene or a Zebra gene. Zebra is a dominant gene so there would definitely be Zebra babies if he had that gene. But he obviously has at least one B;ue gene (+/pb) because...

    Angelfish sexing & questions

    A. They grow at different rates and get to be different sizes. That's nature. B. Impossible to tell the sex until they pair up and spawn. Sometimes you can tell a male by the shape of his forehead but only sometimes.

    Breeding angelfish

Do you want to be an Angelfish breeder or do you want to have a pair of Angels spawn for fun? If you want to be a breeder you can use that tank as a "pair up" tank. Get 10 or 12 Angels (or more, figure up to 1 Angel per 10 gallons) and put them in there. When they pair up take each pair out...

    Angelfish are not Necessarily Monogamous

Not unusual at all. The female picks when to spawn and who she wants to do it with. The males will spawn with anybody. I have three females spawning with the same male right now.

Bristlenose genetics: long fin lemon vs snow white vs albino vs red

Sounds like a good way to become famous similar to Dr. Norton and Angelfish genetics. Do a study to determine Bristlenose genetics. And then explain them to the rest of us. So far I think we have Brown (wild), albino 1, albino 2, calico, lemon, super red, snow white, as well as long/short fin...

    Questions about Cory Fry/Please help!

I am sure others will chime in, but here is my opinion. If there is any NitrIte at all, that is your problem. Get a cycled sponge filter in the tank also an air stone to provide surface agitation. I always keep my baby cories in bare bottom tanks so I don't think the bottom biofilm is the...

    Help with small corydora's

Sounds like they are not eating. I don't know what sera vipagran is and I suspect that frozen blood worms are too big for them to eat. Try some micro-worms if you can get them, or possibly newly hatched baby brine shrimp.. When they get a little bigger, shrimp pellets or Repashy gel food works...

    Breeder box?

These work. https://kensfish.com/collections/traps-tank-dividers/products/marina-hang-on-breeding-box-large But you are better off with putting the eggs in a gallon jar or a small 2-1/2 gallon tank.

What to feed bristelnose pelco fry

I feed mine almost exclusively Zucchini. They grow well on that, very few losses. They will start eating it as soon as their yolk sac is gone. Keep some in there all the time for them to munch on.
