    Questions about Peacock Gudgeons

The tank dimensions are 30.25 long x 19 high x 12. I can get some pics of the gudgeons tomorrow. Agreed about the Cory's, I lost one for unknown reasons and now have 3 females to one male. They tire him out, heh but they lay eggs pretty frequently. They are on the list. Thanks for the reply.

    Questions about Peacock Gudgeons

Hi, I recently decided to get some Peacock Gudgeons. Pretty little things but this is my first time keeping them. They lived up to the rep of being picky eaters but on day 6 it looks like they are all eating. My question is about the males. I am pretty sure I have 3 males and two females. It's...

If you have no snails in your tank a salt treatment wont kill your plants. Check if the loach can handle it now

    Krib eating driftwood

Cheers Gary. I always enjoy the information you pass along. Andddd I learned a new word. ;) I have been reading some scientific papers about the rapid evolutions occuring in Lake Victoria and neighboring Cichlid environs. The exact numbers elude me but they are talking about what you just...

    Krib eating driftwood

Hi, I recently put some Anubias on driftwood into my Kribensis tank. The only residents are one female Krib and two Nerite snails. She absolutely loves the driftwood and I see her nibbling at it a lot. I saw a pile of brown stuff and sucked it up with my trusty ol turkey baster. Its not feces...

WhistlingBadger - October 2023 Fish of the Month Winner (all fish)

Congrats! Wish I had a bigger tank, that guy is so cool. Looks kind of like a mini sturgeon fish

    Shrimp, Snails, Catfish…

I'd say Nerite snails from my limited experience are great little algae eaters and do not reproduce in fresh water. Love those little buggers

    No ferts no Co2 plants

I use the Jobe spikes as well for my Red Lotus. This plant is amazing as far as fast growing and gorgeous. At this point in time I have just 4 Corys in my 29. The Java ferns Anubias, Christmas moss, Ludwigia and Pogostomen are all growing great with ferts every couple months.

    False pregnancy?

It is a 30 inch long. My design when I bought the Kribs their new apartment. I guess he stole a phone for his videos, he was the perfect dad with the first. They had eggs within 9 days of me removing the 8 week old babies. Thanks for your comments and suggestions. I've never kept cardinals and...

    False pregnancy?

What I found odd was that he went after her while they were caring for batch number two.. The fry were about two weeks old and he nearly killed her. I found her hiding at the top of the tank. I tried letting her re- coup for about twelve hours and tried her back in with him. He still went after...

    False pregnancy?

Howdy all, I have one female Kribensis in a 20 gallon breeder tank. She was part of a happy couple and turned out two batches of babies. I had to remove the male after he turned on her for no reason. A few weeks ago I got rid of the last of her brood. Her colors are amazing and she has the look...

Is this platy fin nipped or fin rot?

Looks like the one to the right is heavily preggers. Are they nipping at each other? I noticed some damage on moms fins

    Male krib nipping female

You'd be surprised. Mom and dad are so attentive and will scoop the babies up in their mouths and spit them back in the den. Those tetras are gonna be brutalized by mom if they come near

    Male krib nipping female

Super cool. I just finished giving away the last of my baby Kribs. There are a dozen or so at my lfs. Once they get going I was blown away by how fast they reproduce. Probably 200 babies from Feb to june, wild stuff

    Male krib nipping female

I'd keep an eye on that male. I thought mine were fine until the male nearly killed his wife. They were a breeding pair so a bit different conditions but I'd guess you will have to move one of the females eventually. Be warned, if they do *hook up* you can expect Lots!!! of babies, prepare...

False julii cory missing whiskers - looks very bad

I test my water every week with my water changes as well as wipedowns. I have been battling brown diatoms for months, that stuff is evil. Would it contribute to harmful bacteria, etc that you mention above. I am diligent about cleaning and water changes. I can move my snails to another tank and...

False julii cory missing whiskers - looks very bad

I had a stripe of black and blue gravel at first but suspected it was to rough so removed 90% of it and am using Imagitarium brand Black sand. Maybe it's the wrong sand? It's a fish tank product. There may be a couple chunks of the gravel left but most of it is gone. I will be freeing up my ten...

Kissers used to be common… don’t see them much anymore… they do seem to be a little strange

Thanks for the info. Maybe when things settle down I'll get some honeys. They really are pretty little things and if they are mellow, would be welcome. I think what people didn't realize about kissers is that they weren't affectionate kissing. Cheers

False julii cory missing whiskers - looks very bad

Ok, here's a pic of my little cuties. The one to the far right has the worst of it and I'm not convinced he has an infection but would like your opinions. Just so you don't have to re-read the post, my question was if Melafix was an appropriate treatment but was told if infected that's not...

False julii cory missing whiskers - looks very bad

Ok, when I get home I'll put up a pic. Interesting thing is I read a bunch of articles about this problem. They claim it's a myth that the rough substrate is the cause. Anyways, I'll get a pic up and thanks

Kissers used to be common… don’t see them much anymore… they do seem to be a little strange

I had no idea Kissers could get that big. I learned alot about dwarf gouramis going through three if them. I'm kinda pissed that my lfs sold me the three with claims of them being ok. Maybe in a group of 10 or more but right from the start there was one bully, I took one back and she immediately...

False julii cory missing whiskers - looks very bad

Sorry, didn't see an edit option. My Cory's have the same issue with their poor little mouths. I have to move them to a ten while I do some work on my bigger tank. They are active eating well, I have bumped their food up to high protein diet, weekly water changes, and removed all gravel, only...

    Companions for a female Kribensis

I think after all the hard work she has put in with her babies she deserves a nice peaceful tank. Any type of dither fish you prefer? Rummy Nose or some Harlequin Rasboras or would you think Cardinals? Thanks

Do amazon swords need Root tabs? Or can they be fine with no fertilizer/Leaf zone?

I haven't tried it yet but really like the look of Micro Sword plant. Apparently they are good for carpeting and have small leaves. The other small leaf plant that comes to mind are Baby Tears. If someone mentioned those already my apologies

    Companions for a female Kribensis

Heyas, In the near future after I get rid of my Mom Kribensis last babies it will be just her in a 20 long tank. I had to get rid of dad awhile ago. I will re- arrange the tank before adding anyone but wondered if a Hillstream Loach might go ok or another type of smaller Botia? As she has been...
