My work is of a nature that I spend 90% of my working day on the computer..... I log in at around 7h00am (SA time) and immediately open tabs for TFF, Facebook, and my @live e-mails. So.... even though it appears that I am logged on..... I may be busy with work and only periodically switch over...

This is the culprit.....(Kingfisher) As I say...beautiful with a heartmoving song.... but I am no longer fooled by his hypnotising approach....

He may be one of the most beautiful birds in my garden and he may have one of the saddest songs I've heard...... BUT!!!!.... there is no ways I'm sharing any more Goldfish with him..... As I'm typing this.... I hear his sad song from outside, but for maybe too long, he's been abusing my...

I can only relate the behaviour of some fish to those I have experience with..... most of those you are asking me about (pm's) are not even available in South Africa, So sorry if I cannot help you.....

That "shimmering" as you describe it is very descriptive and a good way to identify their courting rituals...... there is definitely some interest in breeding...... (BTW..... some very good photographs here)

I am of the old school and have a load of these in operation..... I will recommend undergravel filters to anyone who cares to ask..... I have had tanks with undergravel filtration that stood for 8 years with just water changes (and sand vacuuming) and no indication of fouling or ammonia...

OK!... I think I can disclose some stats here...... The topic where we discuss the appointment of new moderators is currently 20 pages long with just on 400 responses and 3,400 views (from about 11 - currently - active moderators)..... I personally was discussed for about 8 months in this...

Here are 3 survivors of the previous batch where 95 was killed during the water change..... There are about 11 of them left.....

I just know that there are a lot more of them, but the most I've counted in one run is about 18...... Here is a photo of one sitting on the rubber suckers of my submersable lighting......

I got this by mail order and it arrived in terrible condition.... I suspect that it may be a non-aquatic. It is somewhat camouflaged by the Anubia, but I hope you can see it clearly though.... (It is the one in the centre).....
