also something to think about is that the fx5 pipework is very wide and when I had it on my roma 240 the lid wouldn't shut properly. So unless you have a wooden lift off type hood I would do some measuring and work out if the pipework including bracket which is essential will fit and the floppy...

ive kept discus, tetra, corys and all sorts of apparent acidic loving fish in my tap water very successfully even breeding the corys and angels at one time. i currently keep rays and wild angels with no issues so dont be put off just acclimatise them well before adding them to the tank :good:

i wouldnt try reducing it as a non fluctuating pH is much better and safer for your fish. most fish will tolerate a pH of 7.6 so dont worry too much :good:

you really should be testing 2 times a day minimum and doing water changes to suit the ammonia levels. if its at 0.25ppm then i would suggest a minimum of 50% changes a day until its back to its old self.
