I have an API Freshwater Test Kit, what should safe readings for PH, Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrate be

Hi Malawy MaD, my PH is 7.6 I am a newbie and only have 4 tetra silver tips in my tank, and have no idea how to reduce the PH?

i wouldnt try reducing it as a non fluctuating pH is much better and safer for your fish. most fish will tolerate a pH of 7.6 so dont worry too much

Agree with matt, id leave well alone if you decided you wanted species that preferred more acid water, then id advice lowering the PH but its fine as it is

ive kept discus, tetra, corys and all sorts of apparent acidic loving fish in my tap water very successfully even breeding the corys and angels at one time. i currently keep rays and wild angels with no issues so dont be put off just acclimatise them well before adding them to the tank
