    New Cory's are dying?

H He’s not owed my respect, he only ever comments to express how knowledgeable he is. He claims it would be the “height of ignorance” to put cory’s on gravel. He’s completely unwilling to accept any new information, and he’s condescending. In that case, I’m also trying to help Byron. He...

    New Cory's are dying?

Your ego is so inflated, you can’t even see that there’s no misleading information posted here. All I did was post a link where there are legitimately hundreds of people saying their cory’s do well On gravel. anything that goes against your pre-conceived notions, you call “misleading”. Get over...

    New Cory's are dying?

They’ll be going into a 45 gallon after 3-4 weeks of quarantine in the 3 gallon. Why do you ask?

Jeez, sensitive much? The video is simply to pose a conversation, not “change your feelings”.

    New Cory's are dying?

Funny enough, Cory from aquarium coop went to Peru looking for wild fish and found some cories living in really sharp substrate with their barbels perfectly in tact.

    New Cory's are dying?

The surface agitation is pretty mediocre. I have an old air compressor that's too weak for any of my tanks, but it would be perfect for this tiny thing. I will go hook that up now.. thanks!!

    New Cory's are dying?

I don't have any air going in the tank. It's just got an aquaclear 20 on the tank though, does that give enough oxygenation for a 3 gallon tank?

    New Cory's are dying?

Temp is 73-77, it fluctuates between there since the tank is incredibly tiny and the house has no A/C. I have been feeding shrimp pellets and a bit of frozen bloodworms. I have gravel in the tank, I've done a good amount of research on it. watch this video and you can see that Cory's can...

    New Cory's are dying?

I paid for 6 Panda Cory's. There only turned out to be 5 in the bag, but that's a different story. They seemed healthy and active in the store, so I put all 5 in an established 3 gallon quarantine tank. 1 of them has died already within the first week, and another one is on the way out here...

    Is this fish poo normal?

Thanks Colin, you’ve done a lot to help out my rainbows. You know your rainbows damn well. I recently planted a beautiful red tiger lotus, and the rainbows consumed the entire plant within a few days... it was quite incredible. Is feeding tropical flakes in the morning and vege flakes at night...

    Is this fish poo normal?

Flakes and bloodworms once a week. Have been feeding them twice a day, about enough for them to eat in 2 minutes. Should I feed them less, maybe what they can eat in 30 seconds, twice a day? They also graze on my plants all day.

My tap water comes out at 8.4-8.8 pH

I don’t seem to actually have a problem, the tank is always a consistent 7.4-7.6 during the hour after a water change. I just wanted to know if adding water with a ph of 9 is shocking to the fish, even if it doesent drastically alter the tanks pH. I’ve just looked at my utilities latest test...

My tap water comes out at 8.4-8.8 pH

GH and KH are both 0 coming out of the tap. I add seachem equilibrium during water changes for the hard water tank to keep it at roughly 200ppm. For ph, I don’t do anything. I only meant that the tank maintains roughly 7.4-7.5 even though I do weekly water changes with 8.5-8.8 ph water. I am...

My tap water comes out at 8.4-8.8 pH

What’s the best way to go about this? In my tanks, I maintain a pH of 7.4. If I do a 50% water change, doesent the pH change shock the fish? It’s Coming out of the tap at about 8.5 or so

Best tank mates for Millenium Rainbows?

Awesome, thank you!! Any suggestions for cool mollies or swordtails I can get? Maybe some of the bigger ones since this is a 45 gallon, 3 feet long.

Best tank mates for Millenium Rainbows?

If I get rid of the guppies, what are some tank mates for the red rainbows? They'd need to be hard water, and would be really cool if they were a color to contrast with the red.

Red Rainbows lost their color after bringing them home?

Here is a pic of 2 of the new rainbows above a couple of the old rainbows. As you can see, they don’t have nearly the same amount of red. In the store, they seemed to have a lot of red, but maybe it was their lighting. They really don’t look too great In the new tank so far.

Red Rainbows lost their color after bringing them home?

Here is a picture of the 3 original rainbows in their old 20 gallon. Do you think they look like G. Incisius or Psuedoincisius?

Red Rainbows lost their color after bringing them home?

I believe my fish are the Millenium Rainbows (G. pseudoncisuis), but here is the story. Two months ago, I purchased 3 of them from Petco under the label "New Guinea" Rainbows (this is a name for G incisius, aka Red Irian Rainbows, Red Rainbows, etc.) After a month, I realized they didn't seem...

Red Rainbows lost their color after bringing them home?

Hmm, okay. They’ve been in there for 36 hours and are schooling with the original rainbows already. They still have not gained much color, and look completely white in comparison with the 3 other rainbows who are a deep, vibrant red. Why do I need to turn up the heat to 86? Thanks :)

Red Rainbows lost their color after bringing them home?

I had 3 red rainbows, and recently purchased 3 more to complete the shoal. The 3 recently purchased looked red and beautiful in the store, but they look completely white in the tank. They also had a serious case of Ich when entering my tank, which was not visible in the store. Currently...

Best tank mates for Millenium Rainbows?

The 45 gallon is 3 feet long. It was either this tank, or giving away my 3 rainbows. Under your guidance, I went ahead and upgraded to the 3 foot tank instead of getting rid of them. So far, they are loving the new space and I was able to get 3 more rainbows to complete the shoal. But now...

Zebra Danio males chasing each other?

How can I remove them from the community tank without stressing them? Will they still breed if stressed in a plastic container?

What to do with Millenium Rainbows?

Surely 32 inches long would be enough for them to thrive right? They've got a decent 38 tall that's 17.125" Deep; 32.25" Wide; 25.719 " High. Almost double the swimming space. Is that enough for em?

Zebra Danio males chasing each other?

Seems like you are definitely right. The dominant tetra likes to hover above the main breeding spot and pig out on eggs. Its pretty hilarious

What to do with Millenium Rainbows?

Thanks, thats good advice. What about a 37 gallon tall? 30 in L x 12 in W x 22 in H The full 37 gallon starter kit is on sale for $100 right now. Seems like a decently solid deal, I have about 36 inches to work with though. Maybe I will look for a tank that is 36 long exactly.

Zebra Danio males chasing each other?

Thanks for the info, have you ever had any danio fry spawn in your community tank? I've seen them breeding and dropping eggs but I think the tetras are learning to eat the eggs, lol

What to do with Millenium Rainbows?

I have a hard water tank with 7 guppies and 3 Millenium rainbows. The tank is 20 gallon tall. The Rainbowfish are really active, and they do not seem very stressed. They swim around the tank actively all day, they always come out and hang in the front of the tank when I am in the room. They...

Zebra Danio males chasing each other?

Hello, I have a 15 gallon with 6 skirt tetras and 5 zebra danios (2 young males, 1 young female, 1 really old massive female, 1 young unknown: has a slightly bigger stomach than the males, not as big as the confirmed females though). Yesterday morning, I saw one of the males breeding with the...

    Chloramine and testing for Ammonia?

thanks for the answer! My tank is in the middle of being cycled, so .1-.2 ammonia after 36 hours is currently to be expected. In my established tank, I can see the pure yellow so I believe there is just still a bit of ammonia in there. Crazy how long a fish in cycle takes, I have been doing...

Should I euthanize this Zebra Danio?

She’s euthanized :( there is only 1 zebra Danio left, and she’s looking healthy (still 3 years old). Will she school with smaller, younger danios?

Should I euthanize this Zebra Danio?

Current water parameters: Ph: 7.2-7.3 Ammonia: 0 Nitrite: 0 Nitrate: 10-20 GH: 50 ppm KH: 2-3 Temp: 73.5 She is sinking, simply swimming completely upright trying to keep herself afloat. These danios spent months (at least) in high nitrate water and I think we are now seeing the fallout...
