BETTA FIN ROT? WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?

I don't believe this is the things of most concern right now. Yes it is recommended that you get a tank at least 5 gallons but it sounds like they are doing a pheromonal job of tank maintenance so I think that something specific is causing the ammonia, not just the smaller tank.

BETTA FIN ROT? WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?

That plant on the left side of the tank. It looks plastic in the picture. Is this true? Plastic plants in a betta tank frequently tear a betta's delicate fins. Get either silk plants or all live. Other than that fin rot is usually caused by poor water quality. If you have ammonia a little...

    Yellow water

If you have hard tap water then using bottled water will cause a swing in water parameters because it has had all the minerals, the "hardness", removed out of it. I believe you can buy things to add to the water to fix this but I don't know what. I don't really know what to do now that you...

No they are in the plant ring and they are never in the filter.

Also some of the frogbit leaves seem to hang down in the water and then they rot away. Most of the leaves are fine and floating above the surface but some just seem to grow in the water. Why is this happening and is it fixable?

Definitely seeing growth on the plants! At least on every plant except the hairgrass... it is still floating up and not really growing. I might just take it out. These pictures were taken 5 days ago and today, so you can see the growth. Algae problems are minimal now except for the dark algae...

Yeah I have yet to really see it growing but I will give it some time. The frogbit is doing much better now lol. I think the octopus is starting to grow, and the dwarf saggitaria is kinda sitting there right now.

    Live brineshrimp safety

I saw a video (I tried to find it but couldn't) where the person put a 5 gallon bucket of water outside in direct sun and it grew a bunch of algae. She then put some brine shrimp in and just left them, and they fed off of the algae. I presume you would need to heat the water or something for...

    New to Aquarium

Just leaving the filter running does not cycle the tank. There is a lot more to it then that. Your fish will get chemical poisoning if you do not do it properly. https://www.fishforums.net/threads/cycling-your-new-fresh-water-tank-read-this-first.421488/ Welcome to the forum! There are many...

    Plant Growing Advice!

Very good to hear! It sounds like they should grow good in my tank then. I just added them yesterday so it is too early to tell yet but hopefully they will take off, as well as my other plants as I have not had much luck growing them. :/

    Plant Growing Advice!

Hello All! So yesterday I just got a shipment from Aquarium Co Op that included: Easy Green Liquid Fertilizer, Easy Green Root Tabs (I am regretting getting the 20 pack and not the 60 pack), Dwarf Saggitaria, and Pogostemon Stellatus Octopus. I would like some general growing advice on the...

What "showcase" fish would you keep with corys?

IMHO I think the betta would work if that's what you want to do. Bettas are higher water level swimming fish generally and since cories stay down at the bottom mostly then they wouldn't conflict much. I keep a male betta in with a dwarf gourami, cherry barbs, and guppies in a 30g community...

Just got my order! What do you guys think? I did what Cory from Aquarium co op suggested and left the sag in the pot. I will remove the pot when it has spread. moved the hair grass mainly to the front right, and I am hoping to get the sag to fill in the front left. The Pogostemon Stellatus...
