    2023-2024 NFL Discussion

What about those Lions eh?. Which I believe is the traditional North American opening line concerning a subject that no one in their right mind expected to be happening twelve months previously! Are they sneaking an extra Lion onto the field of play when no one’s looking? Whats going on over there?

I like it. I love a tank with tangled bits of wood which the fish swim through and around.

Great stuff EK. I’m sure I’m not the only one who had to read that a few times to “get it” at least I think I ”got it”.

    Would you buy this?

Agreed. I think I was in the last year at our school forbidden to use calculators during maths lessons. The other kids in our street were using them in CSE and O level exams within two years of that. Im in my 60s and unfortunately not rich enough to have stopped working in the construction...

    Coronavirus...post your thoughts here...

I had the latest vaccine yesterday. I’ve bad asthma and travelling into London has been worrying as the immunity wears off from the last one. Thankfully I’m still here (though you lot may not agree!). Plenty aren’t. Be careful out there.

White cloud mountain minnows - gold and regular

I love normal WCMMs. Cheap, small, no heater reqd, hard water suitable. I’ve seven in a patio pond outside atm but rarely see them. I’ll bring em in when the weather changes. Don’t think there’s been any breeding action as they were young when they went out in Easter. Hate golden ones though.

Is anyone in the forum a Messi fan?

Lucky enough to see him in the flesh at Wembley in the Champions League final versus Manchester Utd about ten (?) years ago. That Barca team were surely the greatest club team in the history of the game. Early 70s Ajax wouldve given them a run for their money if they’d had the same modern...

Maidenhead aquatics website vs Seriously Fish

I can’t believe anyone thinks MA staff aren’t passionate about fishkeeping. It’s hardly PAH in its recruitment. The ones at my local MA clearly love their jobs. I think MA piggybacking on SFs facts n figures should be encouraged if it helps good practice in the hobby. I believe the SF founders...

    Microdevario kubotai

Lovely fish. I’ve some in my RO’d main tank alongside other little fish. They seem to occasionally chase Ember Tetras. Does anyone think adding a few more MDs would stop that? There’s 12 of each.

What genre of music are you into?

Couldn’t agree more. I’ve a workmate who is right up on the new band scene as his Mrs works for a division of Sony records in London and gets tips on bands long before they’re signed to even independent labels never mind the multinationals. We end up going to see young bands in London pub back...

What genre of music are you into?

I gave up on The Cure around that time too. Listened to the third album for a week solid after its release then swapped it for another album. Robert Smith played guitar for The Banshees on a tour that The Cure were supporting them on after their original guitarist and drummer walked out mid...

    Which plants should I get?

Floating plants first n foremost imho. Fish behaviour in a tank with a good surface covering is stunningly different to one’s without. Plus they’re best for the water quality.

What genre of music are you into?

I saw em pre gothic make up when they were wearing jeans n trainers touring their first album in 78 or 79 supported by The Associates (Club Country* & Party Fears Two*) and The Passions (I’m In Love With A German Film Star* & Hunted*). They were all superb. Saw em next time when promoting their...

Three new Corydoras species from the Rio Jamanxim

Love this stuff. It wasn’t so long ago that confirmation of there being three types of elephant blew my mind. Now fish are a lot smaller so I doubt we’ll ever find them all.

My embers became a lot more active and visible after I added more floating plants. It was astonishing the difference it made. Almost as if they were different fish.

    mosquito fish / guppies???

I think there’s possibly a confusion on this thread between yer big US mosquito fish (gambusia) and yer little US mosquito fish (Heterandria Formosa). My HFs are far too timid to nip anything but RCS or floating insects but are certainly snack sized for any decent sized fish. Gambusias when...

    Embers sick or just depressed?

Essjays right. Floating plants bring them out. I’ve my first ever embers and they were hiding away at the back of the tank as I hadn’t realised how few floating plants I had left. Throw a few in and they’re now charging around all over the place.

Is there such a thing as too much space for a fish?

Welcome to here. Once you know your waters GH tell us on here and we can make some recommendations on fish that suit your tanks dimensions. Large fish or too many in a tank of your size won’t look good and result in their early deaths. Some fish need a minimum certain number around them to feel...

Welcome from Londonish. This is the place for free fish related expert knowledge…….just don’t expect any knowledge worth knowing from me. I was in Melbourne about seven years ago. Leaking tank, flashing fish, disaster

Well done. It’s everyones worst nightmare. Most important thing is not to panic. Plus add some treated water if it’s getting seriously low and all the fish have yet be be removed. Mine seemed to be queuing up to jump in the net after I’d noticed mine leaking at 18:00 on xmas eve a few years...

Can I Add a Single Cherry Shrimp Alongside Amanos?

It’s a 30G tank with about ten HFs and ten Pygmy Cory atm. I’m gonna up the number of Pygmy’s soon and won’t add any more RCS until there’s a few other fish in as well. I’ve noticed the HFS are a lot more visible now that the other bigger fish have gone. Obviously their confidence is increasing.

Can I Add a Single Cherry Shrimp Alongside Amanos?

Amanos and RCS got along perfectly in my tank for a long long time. Unfortunately once I removed my bigger fish the Heterandria Formosa soon finished the RCS off. I’ve asked elsewhere would increasing the number of other smaller fish rein in the HFs if I added more RCS again? They were fine...

What happened to my pygmy corys?

I’ve ten Pygmy’s and ten Heterandria Formosa in a 120L atm. It’s well planted so gets a 70%ish WC every weekend as there’s not a lot of it gravel vaccable. The Pygmy’s are most visible immediately after the WC but that only lasts a few hours then it’s back to only one or two being in the open...

Cold water pond clean up crew that doesn’t eat plants or eggs ?

My patio pond has WCMMs and a solar filter/fountain. The wind blows the fountain water all over the surrounding plant pots which means it needs topping up every day. We have a couple of water containers which are topped up every time they’re used to top up the patio pond which is basically...
