Maidenhead aquatics website vs Seriously Fish

Has anyone else noticed that the Maidenhead Aquatics website had gotten really good for fish profiles?

I can’t help but notice that their profiles are quite let’s say similar to Seriously Fish… however it also seems to be more up to date as it feels like Seriously Fish is not being updated as regularly as a few years ago which is understandable (our own profiles are hardly stellar examples!).

I sometimes use the Seriously Fish and Aquadiction websites for research purposes for recreating a fish's natural habitat in an aquarium. Both are accurate in terms of research value, but Seriously Fish needs constant updating.

I follow a youtuber who uses Maidenhead Aquatics and features the manager in most of his videos, that guy seems pretty knowledgeable overall (even though there's a few things they do that I don't quite agree with) and is clearly passionate about what he does. I have a MA store near me but have never checked it out, would be great if their staff were as passionate as the guy I've just described but I guess for a lot of people it's just a job...

I can’t believe anyone thinks MA staff aren’t passionate about fishkeeping. It’s hardly PAH in its recruitment. The ones at my local MA clearly love their jobs.
I think MA piggybacking on SFs facts n figures should be encouraged if it helps good practice in the hobby. I believe the SF founders would back me in that.

I would have to agree, very rarely do I come across a bad one

Fish Shop Matt? Yeah I watch his vids too - great stuff! I have to say I'm always really happy with the MA's that I've been too, staff really really into it, some have been members on here too! I've been to quite a few and I've never come away thinking it was bad - some are particularly excellent too!

That's the guy, I found him through watching some MD Fish Tanks videos, they're quite funny together! I will have to check out my local one some time and see what it's like.

Having taken a look, I would suggest that the two sites are very different and are intended to be different. Like comparing chalk to cheese. SF has a very different approach, and MA comes no where close to that. What is there may be good, what I saw was, but it is not the same thing regardless.

If something on SF appears to be inaccurate, please let me know. The shoaling fish number issue is one that will take a lot of time and work, but individual errors can be corrected when identified.
