you need to do A LOT of reading before you purchase any fish....
an arowanna can grow to 18-24 inches depending on the type....i had a red one that grew about 16 inches
clown loaches also get way too big for your tank
they are not doing it by choice.....fish are not that smart, they don't know enough to stay out of that current
remove the powerhead....there is no need for it anyway....just use an air pump to power your under gravel filter...it will be just as effective, but it won't turn your tank into a...
if your going to put a submersible pump in the tank, then why not just put a filter in the tank???
in a tank that small, all you need is a simple air powered sponge filter, they are cheap and last forever.....here is a random example...
sounds great.....
i never understood why people pay outrageous prices at the pet stores for wood and rocks to put in their tanks.....if you look hard enough outside, you can find those items for free
im not sure, but i would just leave it alone, its harmless, let nature take its course here,
either it will die off by itself, or your fish will peck at it
i use a 50 foot python and the suction at the tank is very strong,
i never really understood why people want to DIY with the python, just buy one....if you consider all the use you get out of them over the years, they are well worth the money.....
i have had mine for 25 YEARS!!....i bought it...
its normal and part of the cycling process.....it will clear up on its own, do NOT change any water or clean your filter, just leave it alone....read up on the cycling process
the clear ones are alive....the white ones are dead
sometimes i pick the white ones off if i can do so easily without disturbing the other eggs, if you leave them they can kill other eggs they are touching.....i use tweezers
cucumber and celery are like eating water.....they have zero nutritional value,
a lot of supermodels will eat celery and cucumber all day long because it keeps them full but doesn't make them gain any weight because its zero calories, if anything it will make them lose weight
my experience breeding discus.....
its very common for them to lay eggs on filter tubes, or even on vertical heaters, very occassinallyy even just the side of the aquarium itself,
if discus lay eggs and there are OTHER discus in the tank, the eggs will never get to the point of hatching, they...
i generally like to use two lower powered heaters in my tanks as opposed to one higher powered one,
my reasoning is, if one heater fails completely, the water will not cool down as quickly because the other heater will compensate slightly....and on the other hand, if one of them sticks in the...
suck on the output tube until you literally get water in your mouth,
and no, i am not kidding.....its the easiest way,
havn't we all tasted a bit of fish water at one time or another over the years? :fish:
people are all different shapes and sizes....some are tall, some are short, some are fat, some are skinny, some grow quickly, some grow slowly, etc etc
every human is different, and every fish is different....don't force nature, just enjoy it
not really.....thats kind of like asking does it matter which pump i pull up to at the gas station to fill my car....its all coming from the same source
i wouldn't
to fight off ich i would be changing about 50% every day, add more salt after changing the water.....you are also not changing enough water in general, if your only going to do weekly water changes, you should be doing at least 50%
you dont have to vaccuum gravel at every water change, only...
i didn't read the whole post, all i will say is "fin nipping" would be very uncommon in a tank that size with the fish you have, your water conditions are most likely the culprit
1 - if your changing the substrate for looks, then go for it, other then that leave it, substrate has beneficial bacteria in it which is good for the tank, substrate never "goes bad"
2 - definitely remove them
3 - no....as long as the bacteria in your filter are not killed....to prevent this...
personally i just flush em....
if they are too big to flush, i put them in a zip lock bag and put them in my freezer so they dont stink, then throw them in the garbage on garbage day
describe your tank better....what kind of filter do you have?....substrate?....plants?...etc
PS...I never use ANY cleaning products in my tanks....just water
