Stocking suggestions:)

i think i am a little more OCD when it comes to my tanks byron, i could spend endless hours just making sure there is no algae to be seen haha, if i had a 200gal i would hate to think how much time i would spend cleaning it, as it is i have a 130litre a 113 litre and a 30litre, getting a another 120litre this weekend.... you always want more once you get started.

Yes, I too can spend time doing this or that, but I was concentrating more on the essentials that one must be prepared to commit to regularly. We had a member here a short while back who said he didn't have time for water changes on one tank, so I suggested he was in the wrong hobby. How anyone can not find 30 minutes a week to properly take care of fish I don't know, but that suggests a total lack of any commitment.

Water changes are the shortest part of my fishkeeping routine, and very easy, you can do it whilst listening to something or watching something if you have a python or a hose system.

I
you need to do A LOT of reading before you purchase any fish....

an arowanna can grow to 18-24 inches depending on the type....i had a red one that grew about 16 inches

clown loaches also get way too big for your tank

I understand now:) thank you:) the tank has been refunded and I am thinking of getting a bigger one.

I have got myself a second hand tank:) it's dimensions are 80cm x 40 cm x 47cm, it says on the back aqua nano 80 so I think that means it is 80 liters :) will get some pictures when I figure out how to post them:)

If those measurements are correct its closer to 150 litres. Nice size!

Oh wow that's very big:) I'm sure I could keep lots of fish there:)

good job....i have found some great deals on used tanks over the years.....some of them i have had for over 15 years!

Aqua Nano is a range of Aqua One tanks. The number is the length rather than the volume. Aqua One classes it as 130 litres.
Just in case you didn't get the manual with the tank, here it is http://www.aquaone.co.uk/documents/AquaNano-10032015.pdf Just ignore the bit where it says to do a 25% water change every fortnight - 50% once a week is much better.

Never put 2&2 together - saw one of those in the flesh the other day and they are really very nice. Toying with getting myself one as a species tank - perhaps dwarf puffers :)
Aqua One do seem quite good about allowing for substrate and air in the top when quoting volume. My community tank is an Aquavogue 170 (which is volume). The bare tank filled to the brim actually holds 210 litres and in the real world around 180.

Thank you guys:) I have decided to set it up today, I've added tropica plant substrate for the plants, some eggcrate to protect the glass bottom from rocks, added Unipac limpopo black sand (I figured this may be good if I want fish that sift around in the bottom:)). I have added some rocks and wood as well as some plants. I have a tiger lotus, dwarf hairgrass, vallisneria, java fern, cryprocoryne wendtii and another plant which I can't remember the name of now :) It has been filled up with dechlorinator, water and is up and running :) Lots of bubbles on the glass :)

Here's a picture of the tank this morning :)

I love how you've arranged the rocks and wood; you have a very good eye!

It's going to look great once the plants have grown in; you might want to buy some more too; your fish will appreciate them, when you get to that point; you can't have too many plants, IMO :)
