Gosh thank you so much! I am noticing a bit of lethargicness in my usually hyper fish. But that is all I can see as of now. I put them back into the water after I ran my filter with Prime and Biological Boost in it for a couple hours. They have been there since around 3 oclock mountain time...
Thank you for your information!
Do you recommend I do water changes? If so, how much? My fish are doing okay but I am noticing abnormal behavior in one of them.
I got my water tested and all they told me was that I have a little high ammonia and that it looks like I am mid-cycle... not sure...
I wasn't given the exact measurements but I know that I was in mid-cycle. I also know that the ammonia was light yellow. I was told by the guy (who works with exotic fish) that I was almost finished with my cycling and that putting the fish in wouldn't do much harm if I kept the conditioner and...
Oh wow this is so informative. I have hard water.
I am currently keeping two mollies and a platy but I want to get different fish soon. If I have to just keep mollies then that is fine since they are so pretty. But I love the look of pea puffers and would love to know of any other fish species...
You don't give poor advice. It just is hard because I have heard so many different things.
Can I wait till tomorrow to do a water change? How much should I do since I am mid-cycle right now?
This is so stressful...
PS: Your advice is great, don't worry!
Hey all!
PSA: If you follow my threads you know I have a water issue right now so know I am NOT getting new fish until this gets sorted out.
However, for when I can introduce new fish to my tank, I want to know which would go well with my remaining two mollies and a platy.
I looked up Pea...
Okay so I haven't been adding fish. These are my original fish from my old tank. I got a new tank. So, I had five and two died. I got my water tested and it is now in the middle of the cycle. I was told that keeping my fish in there will help with the ammonia production and if I changed the...
The guy was very helpful and reassured me that this happens all the time. While I miss my dead fish, I will now give home to other fish soon and that's awesome cause who would want to live in a pet store forever?
I will be adding to this thread if I have any other questions or if this happens...
Hey all! I got my water tested today and it came back.
They said that my tank is in mid cycle and that I need to let it continue cycling with my remaining three fish left (one of my female mollies began breathing hard after her transfer and died, I am guessing it is from stress). I will be...
Okay guys thank you so much for your help. One of the mollies I moved into the separate tank just died but she was breathing extremely heavy already.
I plan on cycling the tank, do I purchase fish for this or do I leave my old fish in there? I will be purchasing a Seachem Prime bottle and a...
Thank you so much for replying so quickly!
I just moved the fish into a separate (smaller) tank with no filter and Seachem Prime conditioner in it. The dalmation girly is looking a lot better. I am going to take the water in to test it tomorrow as soon as I finish my two finals.
I will...
HEY GUYS THIS IS SUPER URGENT!
So my Dalmatian molly (Sherlock) was doing fine ever since I purchased him. However, I just purchased a new tank with a filter and heater. I set the heater to around 75 degrees and everything was fine until this morning. One of my girls went into hiding in the...
I do like Seachem Prime. It is awesome. But when I had bettas I used the betta conditioner and it worked great as well. You just need more of it. I didn't have a filter, but I cleaned his tank ever week. If you do get a filter, I recommend a stream filter since, from my experience, bettas don't...
I have the same question. I have two fry but not as many plants as they do. I have two small plants and a house as well as a cute little bridge with holes. Should I put them in the big tank and hope for the best or keep them in the separate tank?
Definitely change the water! Use betta water conditioner and make sure it has set to the right temperature. Otherwise, your betta will go into shock and not eat for awhile. Or he might even die. Just watch his behavior the first few days of putting him into the clean water, he should be fine. I...
Sheesh this was a roller coaster. I hope you do okay and if not, maybe check out a vet? But the person who answered you seems to have a lot of knowledge. Good luck and I hope your fish are okay!
I am not even joking with you, I brought my beta from California to Colorado in one of those to-go tanks for fish. He survived!
Your amount of fish is incredibly large, so I would recommend (maybe) grabbing a couple large to-go tanks and putting them in there. A couple fish together, the...
I actually had a similar issue. I made the hard decision to get rid of the male. My girly is thriving and I even got her several female friends.
My tank ratio isn't correct to the tee but it works well as of now and my fish are very bonded with each other.
I have two female mollies and one...
Hey guys! So I have been raising three baby platys for awhile now. I think they reached a month old a couple days ago. However, one died a day ago and when I looked closely at his body to find anything abnormal, I saw he had taken on a sort of krill shape (almost like a boomerang). I then looked...
Sounds perfect! Good luck, as I found out too late that she had babies. Make sure to keep a close eye on her.
An update: My three fry were doing fine and then on of them died. I looked closely and found he had a severely bent spine almost in the shape of a krill. I have one more fry that has a...
That is a bummer. Yeah, I think I am going to start with a male and another female and then once I can get another tank I will grab some more girlies. Thank you!
Oh I see! Yes, I am planning on taking the aggressive male back to the pet store. I have five mollies, three girlies and two dudes. I am thinking about either getting a female in replace of the male or getting a new male and then another female.
I actually went through the same thing! It does look like your molly is pregnant. The first time I went through this I wasn't able to identify if I was correct or not and I left her in the tank. A few weeks after she looked like she lost some weight, I found four baby fry just swimming around...
I am having a similar issue with my mollies. One male is incredibly aggressive towards one of the females. I don't have a huge tank but spoke with some people and they said that they should be fine in a six gallon tank. Usually, one fish per gallon works. But I am taking my aggressive fish back...
Hey! I wanted to check in with you, how are your mollies doing? I know they don't live very long so I wanted to know if you figured it out. I am having a bit of some issues in my molly tank as well. I have five mollies just chillin in my tank now. Two males and three females, I am seeing very...
