You can't keep platies with cherry barbs. Cherry barbs are soft water fish, and Platies need hard water.

I have looked into dwarf baby tears, but I think they're a little too hard for me grow right now. I also have a feeling my gourami would snack on that too, and dwarf baby tears is kind of an expensive fish food!

I was wondering if there are any scientific studies about the effect of hard water on soft water fish? Are there any I can find online? I know that living in the wrong water is bad for fish, but I would love to read about what actually happens, in a scientific sense. Thanks!

I'm sorry about your fish. I have never heard of this happening. I have an aquaclear myself, and I haven't had an issue. Did you actually see them getting stuck, or did you just find the bodies? Is it possible they died and the filter just sucked up their bodies?

Okay, I think I might try the Christmas Moss. Hopefully my Gourami doesn't eat that too! :rofl:

I think anubias might not like the high light. The tree is pretty big, so I don't know if moss balls would be able to cover it. Might look pretty nice though. I'll have to see. Christmas moss is a good idea. What would be the best way to attach it? Just tie it on with some string?

In my 20 gallon tank, I have a piece of driftwood that I stood up like a tree. I wanted to grow a plant over it, so I bought some Monte Carlo. But, my Honey Gourami has decided that Monte Carlo tastes delicious, and he has completely destroyed it. :S Is there another plant I can use instead...

5 gallons is definitely not enough space for the cories. I would upgrade to a 20 gallon long if possible.

I'm guessing it died and then your snail probably ate it. Your tank is too small for your cories. You need to have a school of at least 6, and that would overstock your tank. Also, cories need a fine sand substrate. Those rocks are not good for them.

The tank looks good! Congrats on the fry! You could go to local hobbyists or aquarium stores to see if they would take the fish. You have to let them know that it was a glo danio and a normal danio that spawned. Are you keeping some of the fry? If you are, you have to post some pictures when...

When did he eat last? Does he look bloated? Have you seen him poop recently? Did the poop look normal?

Did you cycle the tank before putting him in? What are your water parameters? Is he acting sick in any way, besides not eating? How long has it been since he ate last?
