    Background. Internal 3D, Or "tape-On-Back-Fake-Rocks/plants/etc&#3

If installed properly nothing should get behind it but you also have to consider the fact that it reduces space for water and swimming space as well. If it isn't fully sealed you will get stuff, even fish maybe stuck behind there and you're at risk of water quality issues. They do look nice...

Very Pale And Not Moving Threadfin Rainbow

It won't do any harm to miss a meal or two so yeah I'd skip it. Don't worry about oxygenation, if it was a fully stocked tank and you didn't have good surface movement I might worry but as it is she'll be fine.

Very Pale And Not Moving Threadfin Rainbow

Yeah just do a WC to get the ammo down but you may need to do 100% to get it down. It's a pretty big tank for one threadfin so you shouldn't have to worry about ammonia too much. Just keep testing after you've put her in.

Very Pale And Not Moving Threadfin Rainbow

You're unlikely to clear 3ppm of ammonia with just a small portion of media. That fish won't produce anywhere near 3ppm anyway. In fact all of the fish in your tank won't produce that much ammonia in 24 hours. You go overkill when cycling so that you can safely fully stock the tank at once. In...

    Gravel Or Sand?

The sand just filters through the gravel and spreads out.

    Gravel Vacuuming

I'm glad it helped. :) I've got sand now but when I had gravel I found it so satisfying to clean the gravel like that, felt like you were really doing something lol

I wonder if the red belly is just from her bloodworm dinner?? Just a guess!

The Angel Isles: Planted Community Tank

As promised here's some photos of my tank inhabitants. Taking pictures of my tank and fish are a big part of the hobby for me. I'm not brilliant at it but I like the challenge of trying to get a good picture with the really basic digital camera I have lol. Some of the pictures will be from...

    Gravel Vacuuming

Yeah the white stuff may be food now that I think about it.  I suggest only feeding once a day and only as much as they can eat in 2-3 minutes :)

My Angel At One Year Old

Very nice angel :)   It's a wild type (also called silver) but I wonder if it's a cross between a Philippine blue and a wild type. I only say that because of the partial stripe and a bit more blue than you see in the typical silvers. I really like the brown/green colouring on the shoulders, a...

Will To Much Or To Little Tap Safe Show Up In Your Test Results ?

Nope  In fact it's safe to overdose dechlorinator by quite a lot and it still be safe. It won't show up in your test results.

    Gravel Vacuuming

Here's a video on how to gravel-vac your tank - a lot of people don't do it right.   You can skip to about 2:00 in the video to miss the "sales pitch" and ignore the bit at the end about maintenance lol, sorry not the best video I guess but they show the technique well.  ...

    Gravel Or Sand?

Just thought it may be worth mentioning that it's normal for most plants to die back a bit when first planted in a new tank. Just trim off any dying leaves and they will regrow eventually. If it is a stem plant, once the plant is settled and growing new leaves, just pinch off the healthy part of...

    Gravel Or Sand?

Your sand will not stop your plants' roots from spreading. Are you having a problem with your plants?    Sand is perfectly fine for them and putting them in a little pot will do just the opposite of what you want as the roots won't be able to spread in a pot. If you are concerned about sand...

    Why Are My Fish Dying?

Hi there, my quick reaction is to think that you've got a lot of fish in that tank.   Do you have a water test kit? Without actual readings it will be difficult to help. A lot of people get told their test results are "fine" but we don't actually know what "fine" means. Have you done anything to...

Emergency..oscar Is Not Doing Well.....anyone Had This Problem?

I think you missed the part of their post where they said the ammonia was extremely high nc guppy...   Ammonia poisoning isn't "permanent" I'm not sure what is meant by that. But yes you need to do multiple water changes. Remove as much water as you can while still allowing the fish to stay...

    Possible Parasites? Advice Needed!

Thanks TTA, I'll see what I can source :/   My bully angel hasn't been in the tank for 3 1/2 weeks now so this is a bit out of no where. His fins were a bit nipped from before I removed the angel but have been healing well since.

Liquid Ferts - Add At Once Or A Little Every Day?

That sounds very cool Livewire - you guys should do a thread on dosing pumps :)

A Couple Of (Probably Silly) Questions.

Maybe you added some nitrate with the gravel and sludge at the start?

Liquid Ferts - Add At Once Or A Little Every Day?

Oooh I've been meaning to look into dosing pumps. Pricey but a fun gadget and perfect for lazy people like myself :p

Liquid Ferts - Add At Once Or A Little Every Day?

Yes it does seem to make sense that way - I wonder why all of the brands I've seen recommend dosing once a week?

Liquid Ferts - Add At Once Or A Little Every Day?

The topic pretty much sums it up. What are the costs/benefits to adding liquid fertiliser once a week vs. spread out across each day.   I currently spread mine out and dose each day along with some liquid carbon. Thanks!

My First Water Change With New Fish!

On a little tank like yours'...you could probably go 3 or 4 months. But really you don't need to clean it until you see a reduction in flow. Whichever makes you happy really! :)

    Possible Parasites? Advice Needed!

I could do with having your opinions on something please :)   The female angel is continuing to show improvements. She has virtually stopped clamping her fins, slime coat is back to normal and the red lines have faded somewhat. She was the first one to show illness. However, the second angel -...

    Picky Male Bolivian Ram

The tank is plenty big enough for these guys - I suspect they'll settle down eventually. What's you other stock in the tank?

    Likely Aggressor?

Could be an ulcer. If I'm right is normally a symptom of bacterial infection. May be worth posting a photo.

    Picky Male Bolivian Ram

Well done :) I meant to ask, what size is the tank both in volume and dimensions?   I was going to have a go a sexing them for you but I can't really tell from these pictures. Also, when you mentioned the pink colouring I thought of German Blue Rams because I always think of Bolivians' colour as...

Omg - Bought A Second Hand Tank Full Of Fish Help!

Maybe I'm not seeing what you are but the danio with the bent spine isn't necessarily sick, maybe just bent! The neons look like mouth fungus to me.   Glad to hear that all is going well so far :)

The Angel Isles: Planted Community Tank

Oh man, I just dropped £90.00 on various consumables for this tank - ouch! But I should have enough dechlorinator, ferts, carbon, filter floss and purigen to last me a year now - so that's not so bad...right?
