Hi all,

just a quick question - I noticed last night that one of our black neons has what looks like a hole/bite/wound on his side - he was still swimming fine and seemed to be schooling with the others as normal, but when i checked on him this morning he has a second mark just underneath the first one! I'm thinking this means something is attacking him but I'm not sure what I can do about it.. he seems to be the only one with any evidence of tank unrest too!

I've tested the water and all is fine there, so I can only assume one of our fishies is being a meany bum.

Current tankmates:

2x Clown Plecs (very much doubt its these guys as we have tons of bogwood and they never venture out)
1x dwarf honey gourami (did have 3 but the others got sick :( )
7x Diamond neons (around 1" long)
6x Black neons (around 1.5" long)
6x Peppered Cory (2" ish long)
1x Albino Cory
5x Cherry barb (about 1")
1x Angelfish

I'm thinking its probably down to the Angel although he is our second one - the first we got when he was about an inch long in body and he grew to about 2" but got ill and died, but he never bothered any of the other fish at all... this second angel we got when he was about the size of a 5p - he's now just over an inch long - but he's been around the neons (and the black neons are still bigger than him) since we got him with no signs of aggression at all!

Is there any other likely suspects?

Thx in advance!

I think you're probably right that it's the angel - that would be prime suspect in my eyes.

Could be an ulcer. If I'm right is normally a symptom of bacterial infection. May be worth posting a photo.

I'll try to snap a picture of him but he's a speedy one! He seems absolutely fine and acting as normal, just got this bit on his side :(
