My Angel At One Year Old

I thought I'd share a  picture of one of my Angels at his/her at one year since i bought him/her as a wee little baby.

I think it's just a Silver Anglefish.

About 2.5 inches long and just over 3 inches tall, he's got a lot more growing to do yet

Cool. Looking forward to mine growing..mine is still around 1.5 inches. Don't know how fast they are supposed to grow.. mine is a picky eater unfortunately

Not going to happen, at least not reliably sadly.
 
The only real way to tell is to watch them in breeding conditions, in which case you can see the breeding tubes, blunted on the female, pointed on the male.
 
You can in theory tell this by adding water from a breeding tank to your tank, the hormones should, in theory, make them show their tubes. Not really practical for most.

It's a wild type (also called silver) but I wonder if it's a cross between a Philippine blue and a wild type. I only say that because of the partial stripe and a bit more blue than you see in the typical silvers. I really like the brown/green colouring on the shoulders, a wild trait that you don't necessarily get with silvers. If I was describing what type of angel it was I'd just say "wild type" because it's nicer than just your basic silver - not that there's anything wrong with them!
 
I've been reading up on angelfish genetics and colouring a lot recently, can you tell?

When they were very young, they had an almost copper like colour on the shoulders, it's faded into a brown since.

He's not a fussy eater, just normal cichlid flake food. I'm setting up a brine shrimp hatchery next week though, so i'll see if he likes that occasionally/
