I have this I On an 80 gal. It fits the rim just barely. I will take photos. As for being secure. I have 3 dogs and a 3 year old daughter. I hang this on the back of the tank out of site and reach. No problems. It is just as secure as a HOB filter. Because that's basically what it is.

All shells are made of calciume some more so then others. If you add lots of crushed shells to a tank it can raise the ph. With Molly's they like harder water so adding a shell or 2 would be fine. For a discus tank other soft water fish I would not add shells at all. Also Molly's like a bit of...
