Hey, all...

I'm thinking about having a go at making a DIY CO2 injection system tomorrow and I was just wondering what you think of them and if any of you have any guides to follow. I've always wanted to add CO2 I just haven't wanted to splash out on renewing cannisters and what not or messing about with fire extinguishers when I don't know what I'm doing.

I've watched a few guides on Youtube but I'm still not too sure...

Is this for your 33Gal? If so then you could go down the road of yeast to try it out first as its cheap and will just about work on your tank, you can buy all the goodies to make it in a supermarket and some tubing and a diffuser from your lfs, there is a guide on here somewhere about using 3x2L bottles and changing the mix in one every 2 days to keep the CO2 level constant, worth a try if you dont want to start throwing away money on pressurised then not using it.

Im using DIY on my 180l at the mo, 3 x 2l bottles, change one a week. 400g sugar, 14g of yeast.

Been using it for about 3 months ish, working well so far. Had to match up and experiment with lighting periods/strength, as I had algae issues, but so far so good!

I love my DIY co2 been running mine for almost a year now. I had it on my 10gal then moved it to a 20gal log. Only problem is making the mix. I ran out of yeast and my tank has not had a good amount of co2 for a week. You need to change the bottles before the bubble slow down. Once the bubbles are going slow your not running much co2 algae can get the upper hand.

Weekly WC with weekly co2 change is extra work. It's not hard just annoying.

Get a drop checker to make sure you have a good amount of co2 in the water.

Right so what do I need?

Drinks bottles
Air line
Drop checker
Yeast
Water
Sugar
...

Right, well I think I'm going to have a go this weekend once I've got college out of the way. Let's see what happens! :hyper:
