So yesterday i emptied the 6ft of most of its water and hit it with antibiotics. I left the tank with the limited water for a while, then filled it back up. I have left the antibiotic in there and will do a fairly large water change next weekend to remove the majority of it. HOPEFULLY this kills...

I use propagating sand, all it really has in it is clay :) Diatoms are normal part of new tanks generally   I would not be dosing anything but a bit of excel, especially when the tanks are new. You also have fairly highish light for small tanks, excel will more than likely be a requirement daily

I think its actually a lack of light that is causing the issue.... I think i will first look at getting some lighting over the tank..... I may even pull the tank down and vinegar everything, then put back together. Hopefully that with some lighting will help alleviate the problem. Worst comes...

I have an outbreak in the eel tank currently, frustrating as all devils! I think i am going to have to resort to chemicals to eradicate it and i am reluctant to do so because i am unsure if the eel will cope

Updates!   Thor the Oscar has now gone to a new home. He had reached sexual maturity and was beating the devil out of Loki. I tried the rescape the tank and a few other tricks, but poor Loki was copping it. I thought about dividing the tank, but opted for finding Thor a new home instead. Sooo...

Be careful selling weed you got from a wild water source. If you buy it you need to quarantine it in case there are any hitchhikers....If anyone happens to introduce something into their tanks, you could find yourself sued

What cichlids? If they are african cichlids fizzing rocks are usually ok. They harden the water which is ok for Africans

I have used paper towel many times to clean the inside glass, specially when diatoms are what i am cleaning. I never have a problem with it falling apart in the tank
