Feeding shrimp pellets isnt an issue, they will eat fellow tank mates if they pass and do eat the moult also.
I feed mine shrimp pellets, shrimp snow, algae wafers, fish flake food, squashed snails. They get no special treatment. Mine are in a tab with a couple of sponge filters, a light covering of sand as substrate, some wood (they graze the biofilm that grows on it) and the whole tub is covered in duckweed. I just culled out probably a thousand low quality shrimp, will do another large cull in a month or so
