I noticed tonight one of the black widows has a large wound on its side, i'll be trying to catch it tomorrow to put in a hospital tank with some salt, the fish is acting perfectly fine, so it has a good chance of recovery

Tomorrow i will be pulling the goldies out into a holding container, wood and plants into a holding tank. All the sand going to get pulled from the tank and fully cleaned. Will be changing the decor a bit (different wood)   If i can find new filter wool, i'll be pulling the canister down and...

The person i got the CRS off doesnt use a chiller in summer, she just dumps in extra airstones....i did ask that lol I already have some yellows, i just wanted some new males. I havent got the blues as yet....i will set up another tank for them guys later. For now i am enjoying watching the CRS...

The fish are Multis, a small shell dwelling cichlid :)   The shells will stay these colours for a very long time, they may fade eventually. (the calcium does get taken up by the water eventually, this can cause the shells to break down)

Tiger barbs dont get pregnant, they are egg layers, so she may just be full of eggs, nothing to stress about

Only way to 100% sex angels is when the breeding tube is visible.   That maybe be the colouring its going to be, doesnt mean you have done anything wrong. Just let it mature and be happy for a healthy fish

Rainbow fish they mean, not rainbow sharks :) They really do like their own kind to school with......

Ooppss lol Here it is     Now......i rescaped the tank today lol. Actually i fully pulled it down so i could dose the algae on the background with straight excel. So we now have a sparkling clean tank that looks nothing like the above :D

Ok, scrounged some lights lol. Now they have different bulbs so scuse the varying ends of the tank     Still nowhere near finished planting, but i'll have to slow down until i get a proper light over the tank

Update: So i went to pick up the light today, bit of a problem, only one side is working, the other side looks to have blown the ballast. Sooooooo, i am now getting a quote to retrofit the light with LEDs, and an extra strip made to go in behind the sump....I\m gonna have to switch some lights...

Thanks guys.   I added a heap of Val to the tank today, and i got my cloudy mess lol so no new pic yet lol   NickAu - I have no need to cycle the tank as the new canister is full of mature media taken from other canisters/filters here, this gives me a fairly instant cycle

Not true biotope.....the current plants may get replaced with native types over time, depends what i find :)

Canister went on the tank today......some planting started.   I also added all the natives.........yeah i know i was going to hold them in QT for another 3 weeks, but i am confident there is no more anchor worm than the ones i removed. They are loving the extra room. Their appetite has gone...

I have a collection of wood lol Always on the lookout!   DIY substrate is in, capped and tank is full......finally   Now it is fairly clear, but it wont be once i start planting, 'cause i was lazy and didnt wash the sand lol. Gonna chuck the canister on it tomorrow, that should be interesting...

I played with some wood in the tank today.....think i've found a look i really like! Bonus, i dont have to go look for new stuff lol. Now that i have it how i want it i dont want to move it back to the pond lol And i cant fill the tank because i've started to mix the DIY substrate and get it in...

Give it a scrub, pour boiling water over it, make sure most if not all of the bark is off it. Then its just a case if letting it get waterlogged and leach tannins

So the rainbow, which are Crimson Spotted Rainbows, are gonna be in the QT tank for a bit longer, i spotted an anchor worm on a few of them. I have since caught and removed the AW, but i need to be sure no more are around, so these guys will be going through a course of treatment before they end...

Rainbows are here, also got given 2 Agassiz's glass fish......looking forward to getting the tank running.   Saturday i'll do a shop run to get the stuff for the substrate......pump hoses and some connections. Will raid the pond and see if any of the wood in there is suitable for the look i...
