In my opinion, the Hygger works just as well as the Python does. The Python is a much nicer vacuum but is much more expensive. Now that is just for the vacuum only setups. The bacteria resides on the substrate and the filter media. Cleaning the substrate and preforming water changes will not harm the bacteria. 😉

Both, to do just a water change just keep the tube above the substrate. It also has a clip so you can regulate the water flow by pinching the hose with it.

Yes, the tube is in 2 separate pieces. Use 1 tube for smaller tanks or both for a deeper tank.

You can boil it but there is really no need to do so. Just wash and scrub it with tap water.

In that case, I wouldn't cut them just yet. Place/affix them where you want them in your aquarium for now and let them settle in first before stressing them out more. Wait until there is adequate new growth before cutting them.

A aqua scissors with the upward bent blades will make this task easy. Just reach into the tank and cut off the longer stems as close to the base of the plant as you can without damaging the rest of the plant. I also find it easier to shut off the filtration while preforming this task. Then...

No C02 at all. The leaves and roots will turn blood red under high lighting. Under low lighting, they will stay a lite reddish to pink. The leaves are green and pink with a tinge of red under my current light intensity. Its actually a floating fern from South America.
