So, what other fish are you stocking?

30 gallon long new tank for warm water fish. Help!

Yes, I'm definitely going to keep just enough for them to feel safe in the tank. I hope 6 sterbais works out. Same for the cardinals. Probably 10.

30 gallon long new tank for warm water fish. Help!

I know. LOL I think they're gorgeous. I was thinking about one lone fish that would stay more in the mid-upper part of the water column, although my tank isn't really that tall. :)

30 gallon long new tank for warm water fish. Help!

Well, now I'm confused. LOL I thought GBRs liked soft water? This is exactly what I desire, but I don't know if my tank floor is big enough (36" X 13") I'm afraid the corys would intrude too much on the GBR's territory, and I'm thinking that might not end well. :) Here's what I would like...

30 gallon long new tank for warm water fish. Help!

Well, I've been told by several people that size of the tank (30 G, 36" long) is fine for one pair of South American rams, and if I'm lucky I might be able to have two pairs, but I'm not counting on that. Perhaps you were thinking of African cichlids? I will add a school of fish, and...

Any advice welcome and appreciated re water parameters

After not keeping fish for years, I just bought a 30G long (36") Seapora, and I am thinking I will eventually get one more tank the same size. I've never been interested in the larger tanks probably because I'm only 5'1" and the shorter tanks are much easier for me to maintain. Anyway, I'm...

Any advice welcome and appreciated re water parameters

Will it be possible to keep new world cichlids without changing my water parameters too much? I've kept fish before and know I have to keep my water within certain parameters, but I don't want to feel like I'm knocking my head against a brick wall, either...

Does anyone have experience with budgies?

I love budgies, but they do like to chatter! I personally have a female senegal and a male parrotlet. They're both awesome birds and strongly bonded to me. Whatever you do, birds require the largest cage you can afford. Not only will they be happier, they will also be more active and...

2 sponge filters or 1 larger sponge filter in 36" long tank (30g)?

Years ago when I was fishkeeping I used HOB filters and under gravel filters, so I have no experience with sponge filters. Would you use 1 or 2 sponge filters in this tank? And if you want to recommend anything, please feel free to do so. Thanks!

Is superglue safe to be used in an aquarium?

I did that several years ago, and it worked great, but I used silicone instead of superglue. (And when I moved I failed to bring the driftwood with me, since I hadn't set up an aquarium in a while, and it was such a great piece. Ugh. )

Need recommendations for good tank stands and cabinets

Thanks, Guyb93. I have a solid oak stand that can easily hold a 30 gallon tank, but all of the weight is on four legs, so I'm wondering if I would rather have the weight more distributed. I don't really want dents in my wood floors.

I would imagine that even the most experienced fishkeeper learns something new around here. :)

Anyone want to help me with fish combos/tank size?

Thanks so much for taking the time to reply. Too bad about the corys, as I've read on a few sites that sterbai corys can successfully take water up to 82 degrees. I've also read messages of people who are keeping them, but I wonder how successfully? I don't want to stress my fish, so I...

Anyone want to help me with fish combos/tank size?

I'm really trying to do my homework beforehand. Although I haven't had a fish tank in probably a decade, I did keep fish for years so know what I'm getting into, even if my memory is a bit vague on details. :) Tank will likely be a 30 gallon long (36" x 12" 16"). 1) I would love to have a...

LFS selling Seapora glass tanks. Anyone own one or have an opinion on them?

Thanks! I am interested in the 30 long and 33 long, as I'm mostly interested in Rams. A 40 gallon breeder will also suit my needs, so I just have to make a decision. :)

Thinking about Seaclear Acrylic 30G long (just the tank)

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I think I've decided to go with glass. My local Petsmart has Tetra tanks and a lfs has Seapora. I think the glass is thicker on the Seapora, but I want to examine the silicone workmanship. :)

LFS selling Seapora glass tanks. Anyone own one or have an opinion on them?

Really? My local Petsmart sells Tetra, while Seapora seems to be sold by private fish stores, so I thought it might be better. I had a Tetra years ago that was just fine, but the sizes are very limited, unfortunately. Is there a reason Seapora isn't as trusted? Thanks for your help.

LFS selling Seapora glass tanks. Anyone own one or have an opinion on them?

If the sizes were the same, would you pay a bit more for the Seapora. I was wondering if it was a better tank, but I'm not seeing this tank brand when I do a search here.

LFS selling Seapora glass tanks. Anyone own one or have an opinion on them?

I'm looking at a 30G long Seapora at my LFS, and also a 20 long Tetra at Petsmart. I'm also interested in a 40G breeder and a 33 long. Thanks!

Can anyone recommend something that will go into detail for each species regarding the water requirements like ph and temperature, tank mates, tank size, etc. Like an encyclopedia of tropical fish?

New here and wondering what brand tank to buy

Thanks! Ideally, I want a 30 G long tank, because I'm just 5'1" tall, and it gets hard to clean anything taller! Besides, I do like the look of the 36" tank.

Can anyone suggest where I could find pics of this particular size setup? Thanks so much.

Thinking about Seaclear Acrylic 30G long (just the tank)

I hope so. Although I haven't kept fish in a few years, I've had four or five tanks over my life, and never had problems. However, retirement looms, and there will be no budget for major floor renovations should something happen. :( A decade ago, this wouldn't have concerned me much.

Thinking about Seaclear Acrylic 30G long (just the tank)

Anyone have a Seaclear Acrylic tank? Do you like it? I'm terrified of getting a leak on my wood floors, so I've been told that an acrylic tank would be better. General comments? :)

New here and wondering what brand tank to buy

I'd like to try three german blue rams (1m, 2f) and three pearl gouramis (1m, 2f). I've kept these species together in a larger tank along with other fish, but don't know that they would do too well in a 30 gallon. I'd also add some type of bottom feeder and that's it. (I'd love some...

New here and wondering what brand tank to buy

Thanks! My last tank (several years ago) was 55 gallons, but I want to go smaller. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll have enough room for the fish I want. :(

New here and wondering what brand tank to buy

Thanks for the advice. Before we moved here, I had tile in my family room where I did my fishkeeping, so I never really worried about this. As we're heading into retirement, I can't afford to change the floors if I have a terrible leak or tank crash! :(

New here and wondering what brand tank to buy

Hi, I'm so happy to be here, as I been thinking of getting back into tropical fish after several years without. Mainly, I'm concerned about buying a tank that won't leak, so I'm looking for the tank with the reputation for the best structural integrity. My entire house has wood floors, so I...
