Hi all,

I have a large piece of driftwood which is perfect for the tank I'm setting up. However the piece isn't yet waterlogged and is too buoyant to stay submerged, so it will need some help. I'm thinking superglueing some slate tiles to the bottom of the piece and than covering the tile in sand will be enough to weigh it down, but I want to make sure that the dried superglue is going to be safe in the tank. Thoughts?

some are, but i reccomend something like aquarium safe silicone or hot glue, yes hot glue

As long as the glue is made of cyanoacrylate it is safe to use in an aquarium.

I did that several years ago, and it worked great, but I used silicone instead of superglue. (And when I moved I failed to bring the driftwood with me, since I hadn't set up an aquarium in a while, and it was such a great piece. Ugh. )

yeah silicone is really good

I used a slab of marble to weigh it down and attached it using brass wood screws through two holes drilled in the marble.
