    Boycott Petco

It seems to me that Petco wanted to pick up on the popularity of Petsmart, but in doing so forgot to set up an adequate training program or healthy enviroment. They need to stop selling animals and just sell animal supplies. Valerie

    Boycott Petco

Petco has been trying to cover up their mistreatment of animals, but many employees and customers have spoken out against them. Many animals, especially birds who are very emotionally sensitive, are taken from their mothers at breeding mills and sold, unweaned, to Petco. Petco doesn't provide...

Are plec's to big for a 10 gallon tank

I accidentally got a Sailfin pleco that grows huge, but I'm pretty sure that there are some plecos that only grow 4 or 5 inches. I'm not sure what kind, though. :/ Valerie

I do water changes every week. And 13 is too much for a 10 gallon. Valerie

    cory

I think using a pure source of ammonia is dangerous. If you want to do a fish cycle, get some zebra danios or some platys. Valerie

    Mollies dying!!!!!!1

If your female to male ratio is 2 to 1, this probably won't happen. The male might want to mate and the female is chasing him off until he dies of stress. That's my guess. I'd say you need to get another female. Valerie Edit: Make sure your water conditions are good. The female might be...

    crab problems??

The crabs are definitely at fault. 3 crabs can do a lot of damage if a fish is tiny and slow, or even just sleeping. You can move the crabs to a species tank or maybe have the pet store take them back, if they will. Valerie

    Eels

I absolutely love eels, but I'm afraid that there isn't an eel small enough to fit in a 29 gallon tank. I would buy this eel a long time in the future so that he would have the whole tank to himself. Are there any small eels or am I just getting my hopes up? Valerie

    quarantine tank

Some people like to quarantine new fish, but I think this is just more stress. Just float the fish in the bag they come in for 30 minutes to an hour then net them out into the water. Don't add any of the bag water, it might have disease. Valerie

    My Tank so far

Looks like an underwater forest. :D I like the rock formation on the left. Pretty fish. Valerie

    quarantine tank

You really only need a quarantine tank if you have a fish that is sick and you have to isolate them for medication purposes. Taking the fish out when you vacuum really isn't necessary, not to mention really stressful on the fish. :( Also, replacing water daily and every other day is also very...

    New Aquarium from PetSupermarket...

Don't add a pure source of ammonia. It's extremely dangerous for the fish. If you don't want to start with neons, start with some zebra danios, platies, or black mollies. Take into consideration that black mollies need some salt added to the water. Add fish at intervals. Since most starter...

I'd have a fish vet take a look and see what he thinks. Maybe there's some kind of fish laxative. :X Valerie

    Water Test Kits

I hated my liquid tests, I could never get an accurate reading. I use the dipstick tests. Mardel 5-N-1 test kit is great. Valerie

    Plants

Live plants will always help keep the water in good shape, but they can also carry parasites and snail eggs or babies. Some fish will also eat plants if you don't give them vegetation from another source. Look into what fish you have to see if they're plant nippers, then decide. Valerie

My stupid fish swallowed a marble!

Hopefully, the marble will pass through the digestive track and be able to just plop out the other end. If not, he might begin to get noticeably fatter and become very constipated. Valerie

    Nitrites and Nitrates problem

I was testing my water today and I noticed that the nitrites and nitrates are a lot higher than normal and everything else was lower. My readings were: Ph-6.4 Alkalinity-around 40 ppm Hardness-250 ppm(the same, actually) Nitrite-10.0 ppm :o Nitrate-around 20 ppm I'm suprised my fish are still...

    why are betta always got

The betta I bought was actually intact. You usually can't find females as much as males for two reasons; first, males are considered more attractive. Two, some people might want to breed them and not take the female out of the tank with the male. The male kills the female after they breed...
