Yep, you can't go far wrong with Biomedia - Filter wool/floss is normally used at the very end of the filter to polish the water.

Some fish wont like it. Does your filter have an adjustable outlet? Most of the popular ones nowadays do, you could potentially throttle it back slightly if it is too large for your tank.

Yep, sounds very similar to an issue i used to have. The o-ring can crack if its left to dry out (you cant really see the cracks looking at it, but they are there) I imagine the new o-ring will solve your issue!

That dosen't sound good. Have you contacted JBL to see what they say? Ive heard their customer service is quite good?

Most foam can be washed quite a few times before needing replacing. Fine mechanical filter media like filter floss/wool will need replacing more frequently, however.

We have always had good results running the new filter along side the old one for around 6 weeks before taking the old one offline.

As above, best to place opposite end of the tank, where there is good water flow. We always have ours near to the outlet from the external filter.

Likewise, Ive set up a few edge tanks with the Inbuilt heater and not had any problems. If the tanks in a fairly warm room you shouldn't have any problems. I only think it would struggle if it was, for example, in a conservatory during winter, or a very cold room.

Was the filter brand new or used? Sometimes with used filters, some of our customers in the past have noticed that they are missing the little rubber piece from the end of the impeller. May be worth checking to see if you can see this? As without it the impellor can vibrate quite a bit!

Sounds like there is too much water coming out. Maybe try to reduce the water flow coming out of the pipe slightly?

I would probably add a bit more biomedia into the central basket, as i find that fluval dont fill them up that much!

Dont forget to use aquarium grade silicone though when making your caves! :)
