    Corydoras Weitzmani Update

Well, I have had my C. weitzmani for over month or so now. They have completely settled in and are eating anything I put into the tank. I took some pictures of them going crazy over an earthworm stick (thanks madattiver for telling me about them): You can see a well fed C. axelrodi...

How To Keep Your Corydoras Happy?

Keep them in large groups of their own kind, feed them a well balanced diet, give them a nice sand substrate they can dig in, keep them with non-aggressive fish, give them some places to rest, stuff like that. The main key to keeping cories happy and healthy to is keep the substrate clean and...

    Jack Dempsey

I dont know what Im going to do yet. I have not decided if I want to devote a whole 55 gallon to just one fish either. What kind of pleco do you have in with the JD? Its not the only tank I have. I have an empty 55 gallon, 30 gallon, and 3 10 gallons. I have 4 other tanks that are filled...

    Jack Dempsey

Thanks for the reply. First off, the fish will be going in a 55 gallon and will be the only fish in the tank. I mentioned the 45 gallon, because that was the most common size mentioned on the interent. I was thinking of a breeding pair, but my first intention was to get the one. I have...

    Jack Dempsey

I have an empty 55 US gallon tank. Im thinking of getting a Jack Dempsey for it. I saw the fish profile already, but still had some questions. Ive read on the internet that a 45 gallon tank is acceptable for these fish. Is this true? Also, I would like to get a pair, male and female, and I...

What Kind Of Corydoras Should I Get?

With that size tank and if you get 20 of the cories like you are saying, then I dont see the loaches bothering them. You could get a nice school of loaches for a tank that size. You really have a lot of possiblities :good: The cories will not bother any one. The clown loaches may get...

    My New Corys

Its too hard to tell. You can feed them some kind of wafer and take a picture of them then. They should stay still around that tablet, allowing you to get a better picture.

    My New Corys

Do they look like this: These are what Im calling "gold shoulders." These pictures were taken when I had half gravel and half sand in their tank. I have taken out that gravel since.

    Getting New Corys Help

What kind of other cories do you have? All cories get along great, so you wont have any problems. If you have the room in your tank, then you might want to get at least one more of the other one you have. Generally cories should be kept in groups of 4-6 or more, but 3 is better then 2.

    My New Corys

Pictures will definately help... Here is a picture of one of my orange lasers. Do they look anything like that? This picture was taken not long after I got them and they were still settling in. The colors are much more brighter now.

Going To The Surface For Air Gulps

I have to agree with the aeriation thing. I have air stones in all of my tanks and I hardly ever see the cories go to the top and gulp. They will shoot up to the top really fast after eating. Cories do this to help digest their food, but they are not supposed do it all the time. Like what...

    Clown Loaches + Apple Snails

Ive read they loaches will pick at the snails breathing tube until they kill it and then will eat it.

    Mixing Loaches

Its probably grumpy because it was by itself. Loaches are very social and to get their normal behaviors, they need to be in groups of their own kind. You may find that those YoYo loaches you have will get nasty at times too.

    Nervous Corys

Also, wild caught corydoras can be skittish like that for a while. If they are shipped to you, they can also be skittish. Ive had some of mine for 4-6 months and they will still scatter if I move up to the tank to quickly. Then again, I have some C. weitzmani I got a couple weeks ago (cant...

    Corydoras Id

I dont think its a C. melanistius because if its 8 years old, it would be a lot bigger then that. To get a positive id we need a better picture :good: EDIT: But then again, I cant really tell by that picture... Here is a picture of my Corydoras polystictus that might help you. This picture...

    Corydoras Weitzmani

I know. I was responding to what he said about the C. Weitzmani looking like C. Panda. In other words, I was saying C. oiapoquensis look more like C. Panda.
