    Water Conditioner

Well it made sense to me  I use a couple of 25 Ltr containers that I use to store dechlorinated and temperature balanced water. I have a mark on my tank at the level when that amount of water is removed.........not rocket science :look: It's easy to splash the dechlorinating fluid about...

    Betta And Guppies?

Hi, knowledge has nothing to do with age I can assure you! There are several younger members on these forums (speak up you guys) that can show us oldies up I can tell you...... The fact that you question your bf's mum's intentions shows you already have some good idea about fish keeping...

 yes you are right on that and it even happened to me once before (a tenner's worth of tank bred tiddlers consumed in minutes) This time I'm thinking of full grown Cyps to compliment the two I have already. Although the Fronts ignore the Juli fry I know in the wild they look on...

    Water Conditioner

As suggested it works in a blink of an eye. However, my thoughts are that when you add conditioner to the tank you dose for the capacity of the tank, regardless of the amount of new water added but if you dose a container of water before adding to the tank you dose for that amount. I am not...

Fluval Roma 125 Or Juwel Rio 125

Oh don't get all sensitive...... but if you want to get serious then the old Juwel lighting system is widely know to be troublesome (otherwise why does my pinned thread on the subject get so many hits?) I wasn't being sarcastic actually, just pointing out that it's funny how you can...

    Fluval 305 Problem

If the air bubbles are continuous and there are no signs of leaks in the filter body (ie. if air is getting in then water will get out) then check the pipes. A good place to check is where the pipes bend over the top of the tank?

    Fixing Scratches On Glass

The old Juwel was fine and unlike a few here I found the filter system adequate. As far as my comparison on the 2 tanks I can only say that there is no comparison between internal and external filtration

    Fixing Scratches On Glass

Depends on you requirements really. The scratches look pretty deep so polishing will take an age and they will probably still show anyway so if your tank is going to be a feature then........? If you just want another tank for stock then the scratches wont matter too much as they are not...

Hi and :hi: to the world of Tanganyika! I wont repeat anything that has been posted previously as I think you should have it by now. How Has My Amano Shrimp Made It

Back in the day when I kept that sort of tank my wife called out that there was a large earwig thing in the bathroom. When I checked it out it turned out to be one of my adult Amano's covered in carpet fluff! It appeared to be alive so I stuck it back in the tank. It survived no problem but...

    New Tank Question

Firstly the water hold no benefit, bacteria wise. Neither does the substrate. Bacteria is in the filter media so swap some of the filter media from your new tank's filter with your old tank and that will kick start your cycle. Then it's cycle as usual. It will help but really there is no 'quick...

    Roofing Slate

Hi, I'll answer as no one else has although I am not an authority on this subject. Pure slate is certainly ok and regularly used in cave making. I think the main thing to look out for is brown rust patches indicating the presents of iron and should be avoided.

Has the tank a suspended floor? In other words is there space between the underside of the floor? Either way though, it's a very big yes, it does need to be supported all the way round. (especially that sized tank!) If the top of the cabinet is smaller than the footprint of the tank then the...

    Should I Bid On This?

Hi If you are looking for a Malawi set up then this one is a tad on the small size. A four footer (200ltr upward) being the minimum really.
