I personally go black background and blue side just to be different from everyone else. Both my marine tanks have black backgrounds and I wouldnt change them at all. I really believe they make everything in front stand out alot more including LR fish and corals! ;)

Hi guys its been a while since I last posted on here and a lot has happened since. I went away for 4 weeks due to work purposes with my tank all healthy and thriving and gave my 2 younger brothers instructions with regards to feeding, topping up fresh RO and even doing a water change with water...

Wednesday afternoon I came home to find there was no lights on in the tank and I thought the bulb had blown but upon closer inspection I noticed the bulb seemed fine so took my light unit into a local electrical shop and they believe the ballast seems to have gone, well anyways they ordered me a...

Still no luck with getting it fixed mate, the guys at the shop got me a new ballast and have had a play with it, there is current going in but light still dont seem to be working which is stange and has got them all scratching their heads at it!!! just hope they manage to work things out soon...

Thanks for the quick reply rabbut, i have mainly softies with a few LPS but no SPS in the tank. I have just got my 11w fuge light and stuck it over the tank for the time being but its hardly done anything... just hope light unit gets sorted tommorrw...

Guys how long can corals survive without light? the ballast seems to have gone on MH unit yesterday so tank went without lights all day. I took the unit to an electrics store and they ordered me in a new ballast which didnt arrive today :( so hopefully if all goes well the new ballast should...

If you are gona go for an angel fish mate then howabout a flame angel or a flameback? they are both quite attractive... also do you plan on keeping corals in the tank? i would always suggest getting some fairy or flasher wrasse as they are very active and colourful fish that always can bring...

I would also suggest going a fish or 2 first and let the tank run a few weeks in order to get nitrates and phosphates under control before adding coral, that way corals are going into a stable(ish) system rather than in a new one (coz otherwise as soon as you start adding fish then you up the...
