As the tittle says... I have seen a bright yellow candy hogfish in my lfs that i would like in my reef but is a wise choice? Does anybody here have any experience with keeping one...?

I keep one here and is so far quite peaceful...rumored to be aggressive when mature though!!.I an expert jumper though and a good cover is to be recommended!! Harmless to all corals here and has never attacked any other fish or invert in the tank...........

This is mine in rear of pic...always visible and very active and inquisitive.......

Definitely need a scientific name as there are a couple that might fit that common name. If it's the one KJ linked, then yes, they're quite reef-safe

Hi guys sorry about not having given a scientific name but kj is right in the reply as to it being Yellow Candy Hogfish (Bodianus bimaculatus). According to liveaquaria and other sites it is supposed to be a peaceful reef fish but having spoke to the lfs that has one in aong with a couple of others, they re supposed to get quite destructive as they mature and attack small shrimps and clams etc and I was looking to see if this is the case or not...

A lyretail anthias going through the change,lol...that's to say maturing into adult male coloration from the juv and female orange
