I'd go with the convicts and the firemouth in the 60 with the severum and JD in the 55 personally.

They aren't that aggressive when kept alone, just like a normal cichlid normally. If it has been kept alone for a long time it will consider the whole tank it's own, that will be why it's so aggressive. When breeding they are at their worst, as has been said.

Bichirs will cost you a pretty penny I think if you live in Aus. They are an ancient species of fish, there should be a profile for them on this forum. Here's the profile for a Senegal bichir.
