    Setting up a nano-reef

Is this a 20H or 20L? I have 40watts over my 10g, and that's plenty for corals and anemones, reason i ask, is cuz my lighting was only 35 bucks. if its 20L then u can get for around 50 bucks the proper lighting to keep ur LR alive.

    Mandarin's

it's kinda like when people buy guppies, and spend money on them. they die within a year, lol so what da point? versus some of my african cichlids, the one in that photo next to my name is 2 years old!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!and still a handsome devil. Mandrins are cool, but for why they run so cheap...
  10. M

    Mandarin's

they must be all wild? cuz if so hard to keep i cant imagine even worth breeding since they only run like $15
  11. M

    Mandarin's

it is possible to buy one that has been fed by frozen foods...but to find one is the hard part. I have seen many fat ones in 75gs-125g's with a 30L and 55g sump/refugiums, they are cool... As for the pod being i have seen one place that did indeed sell them i am not sure how but it was very...

nah no buffers or anything. On the moon sand, i figured it would bring out the gobies best with it being black we don't have ph problems here as it is like 8.3-8.5 out of tap... i have read on reefcentral about people using it in their FOWLR tanks, but have yet to see a pic one girl told me...

    Whats a refugium

if they don't survive the ride then how come when they say that if u keep a mandrin u must have a fugium to keep the pods for safehaven and spread into the tank?
  15. M

    Filter

lol yea that what i meant.....sorry if i wasn't clear.
  16. M

    Whats a refugium

navarre, are you just using LR and refugium as filteration on ur tank???? What is ur LS consist of?
  17. M

    Whats a refugium

yea for pods is main reason why i got mine..cuz i wanna keep a mandrine down the road... they also make HOB types like my CPR:
  18. M

    Filter

i would actually go with the 404 or a different kind of filter, perhaps the magnum 350 pro, that way got something for superior biological and polishing the water.

    Sand from Home Depot?

yea their referring southdown sand. It is a pain to wash but a majority of salties use it. Here are some pics of mine in the FW tank:
  20. M

    BN Plec Fry!

congrats, they are so cool when little. for the intake problem, either use a sponge filter...or sponge on intake..not sure what u have right now. I have seen them jump from tank to the filter through the outflow! lol. see:

    My 10g journal

lol, i didnt get to cleaning it last nite like i hoped, i am really tryin to figure out this question: I want to use tahiton moon sand versus southdown, since i have like 30lbs of tahtion moon sand....i figured it be perfectly fine..with LR in it. Once i figure this out i can have it filled...

Does Carbon Leak toxins back into water?

We are having a discussion about this on another place and am trying to figure this out, i believe it does and so do others i have spoken with. The fact that carbon does leak toxins back into the tank after so long if the carbon is not replaced...Please tell me what you think.

    My 10g journal

well i got the LR in and some fish, man the sand is really stirrin up everytime i touch it, think i could throw on some Crushed coral on top not alot but enough so doesn't disturb sand so much?
  26. M

    My 10g journal

I will be starting out with a bakpak2 that am gettin locally, then i am either upgradin this to a 50g or 75g and then the exacilbur insump skimmer will come into play.
  27. M

    My 10g journal

    Tips on Pictus cats?

LOL no offense bud but that thing is way way to small for him, a min, of 20L for babies. They are all wild! never been able to breed in captivity. They like current since they are from the rivers. lower ph levels or nuetral, and make sure u feed some live food once and awhile, u really need...
