Read something about 2 males sharing a tank before but it was done over months with the males being kept side by side etc and then put in same tank with a separator seemed like more hassle than it was worth

Congrats i've got a male in with my girls with no problems either, I've got a heavy planted 200L i did notice though the females have coloured up in his presence.

Im impressed you killed elodea i hate that stuff had in my tank grew like wildfire took it out put in bucket with trimming and it kept growing, but stick with it you will get there i just planted a load what died or looked crap got removed and what was good stayed then ordered more.

Would have avoided both the fluval is nice looking but not the best for maintenance and the second looks like the bio orb thing we get in the UK which has the worst filter ever had one of the orbs and couldn't keep fish in it.

I was the same but once I worked out what lighting I had and whether or not to go down the CO2 route it was a case of picking plants that would do well in a lowish tech tank maybe one day I will upgrade my lighting and get some CO2

Might have ordered more plants for the big tank lol, gonna add a splash of red and see how it looks as well as some dwarf hair grass, can anyone recommend a good background plant looking for something like whats on the left but narrower leafs.

Oh my good god, i love your fighters everyone of them looks in superb condition. Slightly curious how you have time for all those tanks i struggle with 3 and my maintenance takes 2-3 hours twice a week.

I soaked my bogwood for about 4 days and it still leached into the water some people recommend weeks and the shop i got it from told me 24hrs so i'm not 100% sure, i personally wouldnt use anything like superglue in my tank for fear of it polluting the water i used cable ties on my java ferns...

yeah comes with all media think thats the one i have, my tank is a bowfront 30L but the hood snapped off so now have a light pod and the HOB with a custom plexi lid

I use an Azoo Hob Filter its quiet and has adjustable flow control so it can run at a light trickle My other tank has a custom one in the hood which is a water pump pushing water over my media and down a light slope

Planted tanks are about trial and error and most of the plants u mentioned grow well with medium lighting and wont require a CO2 system you could do a DIY one if u wanted but i wouldn't buy one unless i was growing tricky plants, Not sure how good eco complete is but i always use a high quality...

Its weird doesn't look that white in the flesh seems the camera flash amplifies the white it does look nice at night as the white catches the blue LED's its a 5:1 mix of black to white.

Think my favorite bit is having an empty tank and a huge pile of stuff bags of soil, gravel etc loads of plants and making 3 hours seem like nothing then sit back and admire your labour and watch it grow. Worst part putting a plec in and watching all your plants float to the top.

Yeah i have a 200L so it does give room to spread aggression my male has an area he lives in and generally just flares at other fish who go near it other than that he never bothers anything. Wouldnt mix them in a small tank though even females need a relatively large tank if you plan on keeping...

Gotta agree a larger filtered tank is always better for the fish, My Bettas get at least 25L each even have one in my 200L bought 5 "Females" when they were very young and one turned out to be a Crowntail male who still lives with the girls with no problems, I did get worried and rehome him...

I prefer natural, a nice bit of bog wood and live plants can be picked up at the same price or cheaper. Would never go back to ornaments, they smell funny, paint peels off when the get chipped, fish get in and dont get out and gas builds up in them sometimes. Basically i just dont trust them
