Hi guys,

After having my Betta for 2 days now and an air pump that is driving me nuts, I am thinking of taking out the pvc tube for the undergravel filter and getting an internal power filter, I could then also clone some media from my gf tank.

I know that Bettas don't like strong currents so I was wondering if you guys have any recommendations with what filters you use for your Betta tanks.

Cheers,
AW

I use an Azoo Hob Filter its quiet and has adjustable flow control so it can run at a light trickle

My other tank has a custom one in the hood which is a water pump pushing water over my media and down a light slope

Hang on filters with the intake covered are very good for betta tanks. But equally you could get a sponge filter driven by a power head instead... Cover the out take with a bit of sponge or get a very low power/adjustable one and it shouldn't be an issue for your betta.

Ok I might buy the Azoo Mignon 240 from Aqua Essentials, would that be ok?
Does anyone know if it already comes with filtermedia!

And I think I would have to cut a slot out the back of my plastic hood :(

Cheers,
AW

yeah comes with all media think thats the one i have, my tank is a bowfront 30L but the hood snapped off so now have a light pod and the HOB with a custom plexi lid

Ok I now have another problem. I am going to get a clip on light however would a condensation tray be sufficient to prevent the Betta leaping out!

Cheers,
AW

Yep. If you're really worried you could weigh it down with something... but bear in mind the fish would have to make a concious decision to leap out of the water at what looks to be a solid object. It's unlikely it'd do this in the first place, but practically impossible he'd do it with enough force to knock it off.

Even if he did my some strange occurance knock it off, he'd then have to jump again to actually leave the tank.

Thanks for all the advice guys. I have just had a bout of either good luck or bad luck. I'll let you decide.
Aqua Essentials ran out of stock for the Azoo Mignon 240 so upgrade me free of charge to the 360. However this is rated for a tank up to 90 litres therefore the turnover would be 10x an hour if it was 100% efficient. I would just like to check that these filters don't produce a large current as I don't want my betta getting worn out! However I do think the better turn over would be great for the plants.

What do you all think!

Thanks,
AW
