    Large Tank Filters

I'm a ponder. At 1700g, that's the size of a pond. I'd suggest using pond sized pumps and filters, maybe a bakki shower type filter.

    Ammonia, Nitrite, And Nitrate Levels

Just to get things straight, activated carbon does absorb ammonia through chemisorption. The bacteria will also get rid of ammonia and nitrites biologically. The best way to get rid of ammonia is with bacteria, I suggested activated carbon is because it looks like the OP does not have enough...

No, they won't. The cories should just spit them out.

    Ammonia, Nitrite, And Nitrate Levels

Media is anything that bacteria can grow on. It can mean sponge (which is like something you wash your dishes with), or it can mean bioballs or something like biomax. No media you buy from the LFS will have bacteria on it. Bacteria needs to be cultivated. Or you can try those instant bacteria...

    Omg, I'm A Fishy Grandpa!

Waaahhhhhh :-( In between the time I went to the LFS and came back, I think the fry has been eaten because I can't find him anymore :-( Boohoohoo... Where is the uncontrollably crying emoticon?

    Omg, I'm A Fishy Grandpa!

I have dwarf gourami's, tetras, platys and balloon belly mollies. It's now swimming in between some bioballs that I have floating around on top. I think it will be safe for the moment as the bioballs are 1 inch big and have a lot of gaps in between them. I will be off to the LFS to get some kind...

    Omg, I'm A Fishy Grandpa!

Well, I can't find my camera, but it looks like a tadpole, with large eyes, large head and tapers down to a tail. It has no fins whatsoever and it's orange in color. I think it's got to be a platy fry. This morning, I just found one hanging on the front of the thermometer. I'm sure it will be...

    Confused By Dying Fish

The only thing I can think of is to do a largish water change and add Stress Coat or something like that. I've started a regime of doing 15-20% daily water changes and decreased feeding when my fish look stressed, and it appears to help. So I guess you could what I suggested above or what I'm...

Help, My Tank Is Not Relaxing Me !..im So Stressed !

Ya, water change and vacuum part of the gravel every week. Also when you rinse your filters don't use chlorinated tap water, it'll kill the bacteria. Personally, I can't imagine any of the HOB filters have enough bio capacity.

Setting Up Hospital Tank... So Frustrating...

Thanks for the reply. In the future, I will try using some main tank water with fresh water as that will no doubt decrease the water difference and shock to the fish. When you change the hospital tank water, what percentage water change do you do? And do you feed the fish in your hospital tank...

Setting Up Hospital Tank... So Frustrating...

Thanks for the answers. The water in the hospital tank is not cycled. I don't believe it needs to be cycled since it's just a temporary tank and it doesn't need cycling if it's fresh tap water. AFAIK, your bacteria will not thrive anyway if the water is fresh and there are no waste products for...

Setting Up Hospital Tank... So Frustrating...

I have a new 55g tank. I've had it set up for about 6 weeks only, but I'm an experienced pond keeper so I understand the basics about water quality. After setting up my tank and cycling it I've had 2 Dwarf Gouramis ide, 2 Balloon Belly Mollies die in the last 2-3 days and now it looks like 2 of...
